Fine, straight matted hair help!

Hi all, I have very fine straight hair (highlighted) and a lot of it. It's so hard to brush as it tangles so easily - especially so after I wash it, it's completely matted!

I use conditioner, and leave in conditioner because conditioner doesn't really do anything - but honestly I'm at the stage where I avoid washing it because it takes about 40 mins to brush after I wash it! This is the same if I've had a cut as well, so it's not down to split ends.

Does anyone have similar, and if so how do you manage it? Any products which have worked for you?

Thank you!

Comb the conditioner through whilst in the shower.

Yes, doing it smothered in conditioner in the shower is the only thing that gets tangles out of my fine wavy hair. I also use a tangle tease brush instead of a comb.

Schwartzkopf Gliss Liquid Silk leave-in spray 'express-repair-conditioner' is the best I've found for detangling (and in desperation I've tried most things from high-end down.) A few sprays of this calms it down without adding weight and it smells nice too. Tall pump bottle, 200ml for about £3.

Just to add - I also use a tangle teaser, fabulous things!

It’s the bleach. Since going natural mine is less tangled. Spray in conditioner and a tangle teaser help me plus hitting into the hair as opposed to dragging the brush makes the hair unknot itself. There is a Youtube of the tangle teaser designer demoing this.

comb it in the shower with conditioner on.
Tangle teaser for after

Surprised at the love of the tangle teaser, I’ve got fine curly hair but loads of it, tangle teaser only touches the top layer - the bottom is like dreds.
comb/brush through when conditioner is on & use a micro fibre towel - never rub it dry with a normal towel
