Sparse eyebrows

I’m 65 years old and plucked my eyebrows far too thin 50 years ago when it was the fashion to have Elizabethan eyebrows. They have never grown back and I just have the odd few dotted about (have more hairs on my upper lip). I well remember the time when you could only get a hard black eyebrow pencil which was about 4” long which you could never sharpen.

Gave up bothering with it for years but my daughter has bought me a wax pencil thing with a tiny brush up one end and also another felt tip pen thing with a very thin nib. Been messing about tonight and managed to draw an eyebrow but I don’t want to look like Groucho Marx or one of those older ladies with blue eyeshadow and bright pink lipstick on their teeth! Any tips would be appreciated.

I think that eyebrow looks wonderful, very impressive artistry. Some people might say you could go heavier but imo it's spot on

I think what you've done looks fine. It's not too heavy - quite natural looking. The fashion at the moment is for very dark brows so you'd have to be quite heavy-handed to fall into the clown range.

I think that looks great! I want to know which pencil you are using....please? 🙂

FictionalCharacter · 05/08/2022 01:14

I did exactly the same as you! That looks really good.

OzziePopPop · 05/08/2022 01:28

Looks perfect, very natural. May I also ask the details of the brand? My DD has sparse eyebrows too and the pencil she’s been using isn’t great sadly.

Thanks for your kind comments. The pencils I used are called L’Oreal micro tatouage unbelieva brow and NYX Fill & Fluff.

Looks great

SalviaOfficinalis · 05/08/2022 08:54

That looks really good!

That looks brilliant. I use an eyeshadow in a cool brown to fill in my hypothyroid missing brows as I'm cackhanded and a pencil would be way beyond my skills. You've done a lovely job, it looks really natural. I wouldn't have known you'd filled them in if you hadn't said.

Carpediem15 · 05/08/2022 15:10

I did the same and one of mine was very sparse so I had them microbladed - not the heavy handed, thick type but much the colour of yours. I am very pleased with them and now I can go our withour having to worry that I have forgotten to use my pencil and they are both the same.

Looks great! I had my eyebrows gently tinted with light brown, as many of my sparse areas actually had tiny blonde fine hairs there, you just couldnt see them. Making these tiny hairs visible really added to the fullness of my brows

tillytoodles1 · 07/08/2022 21:45

I had mine microbladed about six years ago, then a top up every 18 months. I love them.

I'm 50 and mine started thinning in a specific patch.

I bought some UKlash serum as my eye lashes were looking a bit shabby. Decided to put this on my eyebrow patches, thinking it can't hurt Grin and they have started growing back.

As an aside my lashes are also slowly lengthening.
