How are different fake tans different? How do they work?!

Just curious about the difference between all the many brands and types of fake tan and gradual tan out there.

What makes them different? The colour that you achieve is surely down to your own skin's reaction to the DHA, right? So it's personal to you? When people talk about "orange" tans, is that just the colour that paler skin goes to when it reacts with DHA? Or is there another factor at play affecting results? Does the undertone colour of your skin affect it?

I have tanned naturally in the past but it requires so much exposure without sun block I can't let myself do it any more. I am trying to remember if the colour I get from a spray tan is at all similar to my natural tan colour.

Yeah I think that’s exactly it, and also over / poor application gives that orange look. So make sure you exfoliate properly ahead of application and moisturise regularly while it’s on so it fades evenly

IMO the better tans are the more expensive ones - tan luxe I think is great, whereas st moritz looks quite orangey. A good tan should just lift your natural colour, I’m a big fan!
