Nike AF1

We are probably years behind the trend, but dd 13 saw a slightly older girl wearing white Air Force 1s on the weekend and said she liked them. Our local shoe shops say they don't sell them anymore as not trendy. I went to JD sport where they looked at me like I'm mad when I asked if they have Nike AF1 in dd's size 🤔😂.

Are they still 'in' (for lack of a less cringe expression) and which would you recommend, e.g. all white or white with coloured/black swoosh? I'm asking for dd.

Maybe I’m really out of touch but I swear I see loads of youth wearing AF1s - unless things have very rapidly changed?

My teen and 20’s DD’s still wear theirs.

They’re still in. Asos have lots I think! Schuh is another good place to look.

My 13 yo ds has white ones and he has just brought black ones too. Definitely still in. We brought his black ones from Office. He brought his white ones from nike direct.

Yes definitely still ‘in’ if you have a blue light card it’s 20% off with JD (I know because I ordered a pair this morning!).

Almost everyone on you see is wearing them so yes they are definitely still in. JD absolutely do sell them in children's sizes so I don't know what was going on there. They're stupidly expensive though.

On the feet of many a teenager I see out and about. Although my DS didn’t want AF1s because he feels everyone has them.

Well my 15 year old is out and about in his. And his Crocs.

They’re very in. The JD worker probably looked bemused as they’re usually sold out in most sizes so many buy them online.

Whilst lots still wear them, they are going out of fashion and JD and Foot Asylum don’t stock them anymore.

The new ‘in’ trainers are Nike Jordan or Nike Dunks which are ridiculously hard to get hold of.

There is also a resurgence of Converse High Tops going on.

Ah, thank you everyone! Are AF1s relatively comfortable or a bit heavy? DD normally lives in vans, which she gets on well with. Converse High Tops look great but are quite uncomfortable in my experience (from many years ago).

i have a pair of hand me down AF1 from DS and I do find them slightly heavy. They definitely aren’t my go to comfy trainer, but my DCs both find them really comfortable.

Platform Converse are the way to go. I find regular ones fairly uncomfortable but I can wear platform ones all day.

I got my AF1s from Office. They are quite heavy.

I have a pair of AF1s with knitted/woven fabric uppers (I can’t remember what they are technically called!) and they are very light and completely comfortable, I have worn them to death! All leather presumably will be heavier, but I don’t think it’s the chunk sole that is the issue, I find them very light/bouncy.

Wasn’t Serena Weismann wearing them with her suit yesterday? Looked fab!

I would say they are literally worn by about 80-90% of teens I see out and about! Although I think that’s been the case for a couple of years so maybe they will fall out of favour soon? Still everywhere currently though.

JD sports have lots of AF1s available on their website! DD still lives in hers and so do all her 15 year old mates!

They are quite heavy and also quite wide fitting.
