Wearing engagement ring on right hand

Not sure if this is the right place but here it goes!

I got engaged today however my ring is slightly loose on my left hand but fits perfectly on my right hand! Is it ok to wear an engagement ring on your right hand? Thanks!

I don’t know if this is still the case, but this used to mean you were separated. So I wouldn’t!

Can you get it resized?

TakeMe2Insanity · 31/07/2022 21:55

They do it on the right in scandinavia, spain and other places

Oh no! I was considering this but wanted to see if it was ok to wear it on your right hand first.

It’s not traditional in the UK, and people might not assume it’s an engagement ring, but the only person who can decide if it’s ok is you. No one else will care about your engagement ring as much as you do.

Do whatever you like - it's your ring and your hand. Doesn't matter what anyone else does. Anyway, other countries wear wedding rings on the right hand, so it wouldn't be totally unheard of.

LunaLemon · 31/07/2022 22:05

It could also get in your way if you’re right-handed.

Youcancallmeirrelevant · 31/07/2022 22:07

Surely just get it re-sized?

chubbachub · 31/07/2022 22:09

Congratulations OP!
Hope it was a magical day.

Wear your ring however you want to.

Agreed

Rowen32 · 31/07/2022 22:26

I would just get it resized.

lovesicksucker · 31/07/2022 22:33

You can do whatever you want but, for me, it wouldn't be an engagement ring on the right hand (UK), and would look like you were wearing an inherited/gifted engagement ring which once belonged to someone else.

coocooperiwinkle · 31/07/2022 23:06

Wear it how you want to. I wear mine on the left hand but people comment I wear my engagement and wedding ring in the wrong order. I tell them, it's not wrong it's how I want to wear them.

Congrats by the way 🍾

Runkle · 31/07/2022 23:54

Do what you like!

5zeds · 31/07/2022 23:56

Why don’t you get it made smaller? It’s not like you’re not going to be wearing it.
