What will they have to prise out of your cold, dead hands?

Following on from my last thread, things you cba with, what will they have to prise out of your cold, dead hands? Clothes, treatments, products, jewellery...

For me,

  1. Facial threading. If I let this go, just please take me out the back and put me out my misery.
  2. Colouring my (head) hair (I am naturally "librarian brown" with a few greys but am blonde at heart)
  3. Bootcut jeans

Skinny jeans and my Tweezers

Oh and my Vape

Minimalme · 31/07/2022 22:31
  1. Clinique power lash mascara - it can be pulled off after a splash of warm water. No panda eyes or greasy eye make up remover blurring my vision for hours after.
  1. Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser.
  1. Epilady - no shaving and eventually the hairs pack up and go home having been defeated.
  1. My Tommy Hilfiger 90s dungarees. If I had to wear the same thing for the rest of my days it would be these.

Botox twice a year

Highlights every 9 weeks

Hygienist as I drink lots of green tea

ChuckMater · 31/07/2022 22:38

Dyson airwrap
Lip balm
Eyebrow wax and tint (although not something you can actually hold)

DonateBloodNCheckSmokeAlarms · 31/07/2022 22:42

@cashmerecardigans (you and I have the same taste in knitwear!)
Apologies about the "librarian brown" stereotype.
I myself am an estate agent so used to people thinking I'm a slimy, dishonest git when in fact I am lovely!

Skinny Tan whipped peaches and cream tanning mousse
Aveeno body lotion
Maybelline mascara

DonateBloodNCheckSmokeAlarms · 31/07/2022 22:44

@ParasiticMicrowasp I used "librarian brown" to mean a boring, mousey brown. As opposed to it being dark enough to be an attractive feature.

I need to know what Tretonian does please and where do I buy it 😊

Skin and me or dermatica do subscriptions for it
It's the only thing that really works for ageing, helps your skin to turn over. It's a long slow process and you have to be patient
I'm not the most technical but I've been using skin and me for over 2 years
My skin before and now. Acne has gone, I rarely get any spots. Sebaceous filaments on my nose have cleared. Forehead wrinkles smoothed (third pic)

What will they have to prise out of your cold, dead hands?

Concealer. NARS for preference. Everything else I can live without.

That’s 30 years of fecking acne speaking <bitter>

DonateBloodNCheckSmokeAlarms · 31/07/2022 22:47

Funnily enough I have put tretinoin on my "things I can no longer be arsed with" thread. The itching, flaky skin is just not worth it for me. I hardly have any lines anyway and use spf. I'm concentrating on azelaic acid instead. And I've tried a low dose, not using it often, buffering with moisturiser.

Clinique black honey lip balm

DonateBloodNCheckSmokeAlarms · 31/07/2022 22:53

@Perfectlystill you are so lucky not to have to have botox and hair colour more often! I'm 3-4 times a year for botox and 6 weekly for hair colour!

Razors for my wild hairy chin
hair dye - bollocks to leaving it go grey and wiry
hairdryer - just spent 3 days without one and looked a fucking mess

comfortablyfrumpy · 31/07/2022 22:56

Avon BB cream - surprisingly good
Mary Kay mineral powder -perfect shade for me and stays well.
YSL Touche Eclat - I remember when this first came out. I don't think it has ever been bettered.

Cocopogo · 31/07/2022 22:57

Hair straighteners, cleanser, moisturiser, concealer.

Cocopogo · 31/07/2022 22:58

Also now wondering if I need threading, Tretonian, a steampod and Botox

cashmerecardigans · 31/07/2022 23:00

@DonateBloodNCheckSmokeAlarms
Bless you, good to know I'm not alone in the stereotypical job description horror.
I'm sure you're an absolutely lovely estate agent, just as I'm a very blonde, high heeled librarian 😀x

Sukin Super Greens detoxifying facial scrub

It's completely changed my awful combination PCOS skin. No more premenstrual breakouts and no more unsightly sore dry patches around the edges of my mouth and nose. Even the old acne scars and uneven skin tone looks so much better. Im 40 now but my skin looks the best it's been in years since using this.

Oooh I’m looking into this! My monthly breakouts are awful!

For me it would be my Mecca cosmetica illuminating, tinted moisturiser with SPF. It works miracles.

@DonateBloodNCheckSmokeAlarms can I politely object to librarian brown? I find the associations with librarians really annoying. It's become a massive cliche - even the Lego librarian has glasses and a cardigan.
It doesn't help, the profession has loads of brilliant young men and women, I'd hate others to be put off by the tiresome and old fashioned stereotypes.
Sorry, rant nearly over. Probably born from me being told by several people that I don't look like a librarian. My answer is always a smiling, what do you think a librarian looks like? And they can't ever answer. I'm sure on this day and age we don't buttonhole engineers/teachers/doctors in the same way.
Sorry OP, you probably didn't mean to cause offence, but it hit a nerve

Great point!

DonateBloodNCheckSmokeAlarms · 31/07/2022 23:15

@Shunter350 I apologise to you too! I put it in quotation marks cos I realised it was a stereotype. I probably should just have said "mousey brown".

Dermovate ointment. Won't tell you what I need it for but I'd be lost without it.
