Has anyone bought anything from The Fold? I keep seeing an advert for a dress and I love the look of it. There is no way I can afford it and would have nowhere to wear it but I bet it feels good on. Someone put me off it, please 😁

I've not bought anything from them but there was a thread a few months ago by a poster looking for elegant work wear to wear for a work event where she was presenting a paper or similar.

The Belleville top, from memory, came highly recommended as an alternative to wearing a jacket. You might be able to search for the thread.

No but I do look at these things every now and then in wonder and I would really like to buy them but everyone in my office is in jogging pants and trainers I would look a right tit wearing that.

I do wonder what will happen to shops like those know the corporate uniform has basically gone in the bin. And good riddance

It's a beautiful dress. It's definitely a work dress. My office is 90% casual (unless seeing clients) and the 10% who pre- lock down never took part in "dress down Fridays" who wear formal wear, which includes wearing dresses like that. I wear dressed up clothes to work.

I don't like casual clothes. I wouldn't be seen dead in jogging pants and trainers anywhere, far less when at work. Personally I think on the one hand it's a great shame that formal dressing has declined but on the other it's nice not being part of the joggers and trainers herd. If the joggers and trainers herd think wearing a dress like that makes someone look a "right tit" as far as I'm concerned that's their problem, not mine.

I did a search for the top and found a thread, thank you @TheLassWiADelicateAir they all seemed to love what they had.

Dry clean only?
Long sleeves but summer weight would be totally impractical for me.

I’ve got a few pieces from there and love it all - beautiful fit, materials and great customer service. As you’d expect for the price! But I do love how different their stuff is to most of the high street.

Beautiful clothes I have two work dresses from pre covid office life - now they are gathering dust .
I normally love most of the collections in the little catalogues they still send me and then have to Remind myself I barely leave the house these days !

This was my thread! I forgot to come back and update, so thank you for mentioning it here. I did buy the Belleville top after the recommendations on that thread and am really pleased with it. It was expensive but it looks it - high quality fabric, beautifully structured top, feels great to wear and a timeless shape that I can see myself wearing for years to come. I think it looks better in reality than in photos, and I'm sure that I wouldn't have found it / chosen it / bought it without the advice of people here. So thank you to those that suggested it - definitely a positive review of The Fold from me. I'd definitely look there again for work clothes.

Haha yes I realised that after i posted. It's definitely not a shop for impulse buying, but the top I got does feel like it was 'worth' the price and is something that I will be able to wear for a long time. The dress you like is current season so maybe worth holding out for the sale and/or keeping an eye on ebay etc in case it comes up second hand (might be a long wait though!)

That’s quite alright. I now have a good reason to stop impulse buying stuff that I really don’t need, so I can save up for something I might love 😁
