Ok I have a wedding and a dressy party to go to in November. Wedding is small...sit down lunch...travelling a couple of hours to venue and won't be able to change. Party will be lots of dancing.
I'm big all over. Size 20. Mid 50s. I've looked at lots of sites but I'm sure there must be some I'm missing. My tummy isn't my best feature thanks to a hiatus hernia but it's not horrific. Nothing too glitzy or sparkly. . Budget up to £200 but would prefer to spend ALOT less. I can't wear high heels.

Tia 🤞

There are other colours, size down and wear with some shoe boots or nice shoes and tights. Super comfy, doesn't crease and flattering. I wore it to a summer wedding with sandals and received endless compliments.

Someone posted some scarlett&jo dresses on another thread. I had never really looked at them before but loads of their stuff looked perfect for weddings and parties.

This was the link that led me down the rabbit hole....

Hi OP am sure you will find something fabulous - you don't look 'big' at all - plenty of women are your size !

If it were me and I wanted to feel amazing I would look here ( it will be top of budget though!)

www.nancymac.co.uk/collections/winters-plume/products/aurora-dress-in-plume-print-crepe-1?variant=40747183079475

You can get 10% off and they will both advise and custom make items so you can make sure it's a perfect fit .

OP you'd look brilliant in this dress, colours are lovely and autumnal. Your recent picture doesn't look "big" you have a lovely figure and that dress would look great.

I love that dress and it would be comfortable to wear but it's really a bit short for me unfortunately, even with opaque tights. Thankyou though

Shinyandnew2022 some beautiful things on there thankyou but I notice they only go up to size 18. I think having something made to measure would be a lot more money. Gorgeous though

sunniest I have seen that website recently and they do a breathable fabric which appeals to me, it's just getting the right sleeve to cover my arms or a dress with no sleeves so i can wear a cover up or jacket. I'll keep looking on the site...So many to look at. Thankyou

Biggreencactus I really like that but unfortunately they don't have it in my size 😫

Thankyou, I've added it to the basket. It looks lovely. Unfortunately I can't find any reviews. Do you think it would stay relatively crease free given its Silk mix?

waltzingparrot I ordered the one you linked to plus this one. Not sure if its quite dressy enough but....

I think I'd wait a bit until this seasons Christmas stuff is in the shops. How about a velvet trouser suit? I'm a similar size and build to you and really struggle with dresses

cittigirl · 03/08/2022 19:21

AuntieDolly yes I may look out again I just didn't want a panic buy. I received both the Wallis dresses and I love them. I'm a few pounds off the perfect fit but they're a flattering style so I'm keeping them both 😃

I like that one too. No idea if they'll crease or not though. It's why I buy patterned stuff though - less obvious.
