Wrap dress help please

What have I got wrong with this wrap dress? It doesn't look right at all. Before I return it, is it just me doing something wrong?! I haven't tried a wrap dress before. I've followed the instructions to tie it, and can't get the knot any further to the side because there's not enough length left. I don't think it's too small as it feels big everywhere else. Any advice please?

Here's what it's supposed to look like (on someone slimmer obviously)... Why does it look like a dressing gown on me?!

I don't think you've done anything wrong. The sleeves are very big aren't they... You've clearly got a big pair of lovely knockers and I've never found wrap dresses very flattering with big tits - I think they look a bit matronly. So, yes, nothing wrong, just not a flattering frock.

Bigwetdog · 29/07/2022 11:21

Yes, dressing gown that's it! Model has smaller tits and the sleeves are shorter and therefore better

Yes I wondered if it was the boobs! Ahh maybe this style of dress is not for me then.

The inside wrap should have a hole to go in and come out - the outside bit just goes to the back and tie it there

if you look it’s supposed to tie at the back.

Try that and send another picture

PenCreed · 29/07/2022 11:23

I think it's because you have a bust and it looks like it's cut for someone who doesn't! The sleeves also look elbow length on the model but wrist length in real life, which doesn't help.

Definitely the dress, not you!

I tried that but it massively gapes, so not right either. Back it goes!

Have you tried a different bra? Your boobs appear to be separated rather than together, if you try a more together bra the material might lie differently? Just a suggestion - I don’t have enormous jugs!

KirstenBlest · 29/07/2022 11:42

Send it back. It does nothing for you. It looks like a dressing gown

Fireflygal · 29/07/2022 11:43

I also vote for a send it back. It has more of a dressing gown vibe.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 29/07/2022 11:46

The tie shouldn't be wrapping around your front, it isn't on the model.

Can you show a picture of it unwrapped and laid out flat? They can have different ways of doing up depending on how they're cut, so hard to say how it should be without seeing all the bits laid out, iyswim.

ShandaLear · 29/07/2022 11:47

You have a fantastic figure. But that dress does nothing for it. I am also blessed with generous norms and find wrap dresses tricky. If they fit the bust there’s too much fabric everywhere else, and if it fits everywhere else it’s flashing the innocent time.

LucyLoopyLu · 29/07/2022 11:51

I quite like the body part apart from the bow being at the front. I don't think it's unflattering on your bust at all.
I think the problem is the sleeves. There's too much pattern on your top half because the sleeves are too wide and too long to be flattering.
Unless you can alter the sleeves I'd say send it back.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 29/07/2022 11:53

I've found it on boo hoo? I think the underneath layer should go from your left to right, and there's probably a hole to poke the tie attached to that out through (if it's not a sewn together faux wrap with the right hand - to you - tie sewn to the seam?)

Then the top wrap goes from your right to your left, and the tie goes rount to meet the other in the middle of your back.

You should be able to adjust the gaping by adjust how tight you're tying it together?

rightonthyme · 29/07/2022 11:53

It's the funny sleeves and the material. I had the issue the other day (not the same dress).

I would send it back personally - if you're set on it, maybe try to roll up the sleeves so they go above your elbow? Perhaps also try tying the belt to the side instead of in front, or doing it up at the back.

I have big boobs and often wear wrap dresses. However, I always have to wear a cami underneath to avoid the massive boob exposure. Try it with a cami and see how it looks.

However, I'd still send it back as I think the pattern is overwhelming and the sleeves are way too big. I think plain colour or small patterns are better with wrap dresses on those of us who have big boobs.

Mammyloveswine · 29/07/2022 12:55

I think it looks better on you than the model pic!!!

I think it looks nice! Agree thr sleeves are a bit long tho.
