Clairol - skin test whinge

Just wanted to have a moan really. Have just done the skin test for a Clairol hair dye and my arm now feels sore, so obviously I can't use it. Have not had a negative reaction to hair dye before and was so looking forward to getting rid of my greys tomorrow and now I have to buy something else!

Apart from having a whinge, does anyone know if some brands are more likely to cause a negative reaction than others or is it genuinely individual ?

Have used Olia before now but the shade was not quite right. And Superdrug own brand but my town branch has shut so I couldn't get one tomorrow.

If it's a reaction to the ppd (usually in dark colours I think) then the brand won't make any difference.

It's weird because I've never had this before. Bought done Olia and will do another test today - I'm not ready to go grey yet!

You can just start to react to these things even if you've been using them for years. I think dark colours are worse, so bleach might be fine. There's always things like foils as possible alternative, so not touching your scalp.

Hopefully it will be fine, but there are lots of hairdressers around on here who can advise if not!

Thanks. I did go blonde for a bit but the upkeep was getting very expensive. Was hoping to get away with box dyes for a bit!
