What have you only recently discovered/been converted to and what do you desperately want to come back?

As the title says. Mine are:

Recently discovered/converted: crossbody bags. Having practically no shoulders, these have been a revelation of convenience and comfort. Never again will I buy or entertain a shoulder bag!
Bring back: inspired by the pashmina thread, pashminas! So useful for pub gardens, being a bit chilly under the office aircon, flights, weddings, literally anything. Surely due a comeback and I genuinely don’t care if they’re fashionable or not, but if they come back, they’ll be considerably easier to get hold of.

I can't believe no one has replied as I think this is a great question. Having said that I'm struggling to think of anything I'd like to come back really 😄

I have recently discovered Roman summer cropped trousers. I'm a classic apple with slim legs and I struggle with trousers being too baggy around the top of my legs. These fit really nicely and if they had pockets they'd be perfect. Even so it hasn't stopped me buying them in four colours so far...

(Have used crossbody bags for years - latest is the Chelsea camera bag from Fablou - some of the colours are on sale at the moment).

Cardigansalltheway · 28/07/2022 09:08

@CharlotteSt I know, I too thought it was a good question 😁. Glad to hear that you've found the right trousers for you, as someone who has short legs, I sympathise with how tricky it can be to find a good fit! I've recently found a style that Zara do that are ideal for my height and shape so tempted to get several colours, I know I'll regret it if I don't!

And thank you for the recommendation on bags, the camera bag style is my favourite, I'm going to take a look.

Yes great question!

Recently discovered (and appreciate neither style nor beauty 😁) are sleep bras! Total game changer for comfort at night. Wish I'd known about them years ago

What I'd love are for knitted sleeveless tunic style tops to come back in autumn/winter. They are just so useful for layering. There were some around last year but they were more like tank tops.

Deathraystare · 02/08/2022 19:08

Well I have said it many times on here but the Primark 'comfort' bras that you just pull on over your head. Ok not as flattering as a normal bra but I tend to bloat all over in the heat - Mind you, you would have laughed watching me put it on, the back rolled up to high for me to pull it down so I had to get a clothes hanger to do that.

In the heat I cannot do up a normal bra unless I put and addition to the hooks (more fabric I mean) but then the bra is too big......

Not sure what I want to come back.

SpeedofaSloth · 02/08/2022 19:10

I am totally over shoes that hurt. I will not tolerate that ever again, I don't think.

I would like pashminas back too. They are handy in summer and winter.

StridTheKiller · 02/08/2022 19:30

Bring back natural fibres and get rid of all the synthetic shite (except it can't be got rid of as it's plastic).
I never gave up pashminas. Ebay and The Cashmere Centre are your friends here OP.

LoobyDop · 02/08/2022 21:02

I have a pair of flat, over the knee suede boots that I absolutely love for wearing with a jumper dress in winter. Every time OTK boots are mentioned on here they are slated on all sides.

nzeire · 02/08/2022 21:06

Let’s bring back the old lady pashmina! I hate them but so useful!

WhatIsThisPlease · 02/08/2022 21:11

I haven't recently discovered anything really - I lead a very boring life.

But I would LOVE for the plastic rain hoods that my grandma used to wear to come back into fashion. My hair goes frizzy just by me looking out of the window on a damp day. I would love one of these to pop in my handbag.

Cardigansalltheway · 02/08/2022 21:28

@SpeedofaSloth I’m totally with you on the shoes! I’ve not worn heels since February 2020 ie just before the first lockdown, I don’t think I ever will again. I still have a few pairs in my wardrobe and have occasionally considered it now that we’re well and truly back in the office but decide against it every time, in spite of feeling that some of my outfits would look better with.

Loving all the recommendations for comfy bras, in fact comfort is a key consideration for most things now, and didn’t used to be on my radar at all. Genuinely can’t decide if it’s an age or a lockdown thing, probably a little of both 🤔. Although there does seem to be a lot more fashion geared to looser, more flowing shapes, flat shoes etc, really hope that stays.

@Deathraystare
Here’s a game changer…step into your bra and pull it up.
I learned that from a breast care nurse after my last operation.

lurchermummy · 03/08/2022 08:03

Ha ha my bra would not fit over my arse - that might work with stretchy non underworld ones but not my scaffolding!

isthatwhatyoureallywanted · 03/08/2022 08:16

Shorter tops. I am 5'4" and pear shaped. For tops to fit, I need them to finish above my hips. I can't be the only person facing this issue!

FindingMeno · 03/08/2022 08:21

All natural dresses ( for example cotton and linen).
If I could afford to change all my wardrobe, I would.

dudsville · 03/08/2022 08:26

I recently (over the last 3 or 4 years) converted to the wide leg trousers and loose fitting dresses and trainers (not white but still comfy).

I'm at a loss for what i would like to make a comeback, except for my prepandemic body, I'm working on that!

Cardigansalltheway · 03/08/2022 08:35

@isthatwhatyoureallywanted as a fellow shorter person yes to shorter tops (although finally learning to French tuck has been really good as well). I can't believe that I spent so many years buying things because I liked the look of them on other people, in magazines etc - finally learning to dress for my height, shape and colouring has made a huge difference.

Another game changer that I've only literally just come to - a magnifying mirror for putting on make up. Why the heck did I not think of using one before?!

I have recently discovered wearing men's t shirts and jumpers/sweatshirts. Cheaper and better quality than women's. Thanks to reading Wears My Money, where it was recommended.

I spent years wanting wider leg jeans to come back in and they have now so there's nothing I can think of really.

Abracadabra12345 · 03/08/2022 21:22

I’ve been wearing long summer dresses for years so I am thrilled that I am no longer the only person who wears them.

id like a full on return of bootcut jeans not just the occasional glimpse, and for skinnies to finally go out!

DayOfNight · 03/08/2022 21:30

“Tall” length tops. I’m only 5”7 but I have a long back and shortish legs. I can’t believe that it never occurred to me before, they’re so much more flattering on me and I don’t get a cold middle.

I can’t think of anything that I’d like to bring back though!

comeondover · 03/08/2022 21:46

Ages ago, I bought a silk face mask from Etsy. Only recently have I worn it and I wish I'd done so sooner - it feels lovely against my skin and is a pleasure to wear.
