Cool cotton dresses

I've spent the last few weeks wearing nightdresses in the house as they are cool, it makes me feel more productive if I dress in proper clothes though. Has anyone seen cheap, sleeveless cotton dresses about knee height?

La Redoute also worth a look (again you can filter by material, sleeve length etc)

H&M have loads of cotton and linen in at the moment

In amongst the polyester/viscose horrors

Why don't people like viscose? I know some of the processing leaves a bit to be desired but you can get sustainable versions and it is a natural fibre. A lot of cotton is heavily processed too.

Viscose is more sweaty than cotton on me

If you are anywhere near an M&S outlet they have cotton/ linen simple dresses for £15, black, white and orange. Thought they were a bit of a bargain.

I have a few of these knee length cotton jersey dresses, they have a little sleeve though, but so flattering and easy to wear, great for hiding a tummy!

Someone on here suggested Khaadi the other day for plainer salwar. It took me down a secondhand rabbit hole of the most beautiful Toast-like cotton 'dresses' for a fraction of the price.

Same here. I can no more wear viscose than I can polyester. Both make me sweat, and damp patches show badly on viscose.
It has to be cotton all the way for me.

@Itsincidental I recently bought that dress plus a knee length t-shirt dress with pockets, & a maxi version from the Weirdfish eco cotton range. They are all really good quality, very cool to wear (got me through the recent heatwave), and been washed twice each already.

A bit expensive at full price, but I bought when they had an offer on of 30/40% off some dress plus an extra 10%, & next day delivery if over £75.

The “Only” clothing label isn’t Amazon, they are part of a Danish fashion brand that also own other labels like Vila and Vero Moda

I do too,I don't find it cool at all.

This is £16 (been reduced) but 100% cotton. Only available in 8-12 though so not sure if it works for you www.pocketsforwomen.co.uk/product/11872/white-stuff-adrianna-fairtrade-dress

Lots of loose, floaty dresses out there at Cos and Other Stories. However, H&M have them too at a fraction of the price and they are surprisingly good quality.

I just wear these when it’s hot. e.g.

I have this in blue stripe, navy and black, perfect and so comfy!!

Linen is the coolest fibre to wear. It is lightweight and the most absorbent of all the fibres. It has no insulation g properties. If it’s making you sweaty , l suspect it is not pure linen.

Cotton is also cool as it has a twisty surface which holds the fibre away from the body.

Seersucker and broiderie anglais are the coolest fabric to wear.

Knitted jersey dresses ( even in cotton) are warm to wear. Knitted fabrics are insulating and trap warmth.

Viscose uses a fuck ton of chemicals, and is pulped wood with loads of chemicals in it. Modal is the same. It’s breathable because it’s partly natural, but the chemicals make for much sweatiness. I’m allergic to it.

Woven fabrics are much cooler than knitted ones.

Do people really wear sea salt and John Lewis clothes to do the housework ? I would get something from either Sainsburys, George, or F2F at Tesco , but take a look at Bonmarche, I have sleeveless Jersey dresses in
from them that wash easily no ironing required for under £20 each.

It's pure linen that I've tried over and over.. Have you ever splashed a few drops of water onto linen of any colour? That's why those of us who perspire easily can't wear it. It's incredibly unforgiving.

Yes isn't it

I'm sure even pure linen made me sweaty and silk
