How can I get salon blow dried look at home when I’m utterly incompetent with a haidryer

Just went to the hairdresser yesterday for a cut and blow dry and omg, my hair looks and feels like hair instead of the usual garden broom. I HAVE to learn how to do this myself. I don’t have a dressing table and skills. I can’t afford to go for a blow dry once a week. Please teach my blow dry for dummies? I have longish thickish straight hair that s super drrrrry.

Well I went through all my gadgets & I found One step paddle brush & used it this morning - so happy! I can’t believe I had forgotten about it. 🤦🏻‍♀️

@MissMarpleRocks i assume you just use this for straightening and it doesn’t give volume?

MissMarpleRocks · 30/07/2022 13:27

I put mousse in my hair & let it dry naturally & then when almost dry used the paddle. I also have a BBH but can’t be bothered with the faff but it does give more volume than I have today.

Hi the GHD glide does not really make it poker straight it, smoothes it and makes it shiny, it's great for volume. It gives a good base if you want it straight to then run the straighteners through it.

Thankyou! Shiny and volume sounds good, I’m not into poker straight, I actually like a bit of flick and swish , curled ends.

Quick question - I've looked for the Revlon one online but there seem to be many variations. Which one(s) on this page are the ones everyone is raving about?

@Battlecat98 how did you manage to create volume with a GHD glide (great username, BTW!)?

Is it the hair dryer and styler or the hair dryer and volumiser?

Anjelika · 30/07/2022 18:13

Thanks!

I don't really understand what you mean? It blows hot air and you style your hair with it therefore creating volume.

2under2howscary · 30/07/2022 18:15

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor there's a one step dry and style and a one step dry and volumiser xx

Pretty sure they're exactly the same thing with a different box. 😂

2under2howscary · 30/07/2022 18:18

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor the one from Asda looked like a paddle brush type so I wasn't sure ha! I'll go for the volumiser round brush one.

I'm no use with hair but want to learn!

Oh right, the pads brush will be for straightening then I imagine whereas the other is a bit of oomph as well.

I use it to brush underneath, I don't use it just like a smoothing brush so just brushing. Not explained that well.

I hold it with the bristles out as opposed to a normal brush and brush up and out.
