Chanel Le Lion

As a lover of Coco Chanel eau de parfum (the original, in the black and gold box) I've been looking to try Le Lion. I've read various reviews saying the 2 are very similar. Finally passed a Chanel counter today which had a bottle, so I had a quick spritz. It's horrible! I'm now sitting here smelling like cross between Lagavulin and TCP. Is it just me? Does anyone who likes Coco also like Le Lion?

I always wear Coco. I also really like Le Lion but I wouldn't say they are at all similar? Le Lion was really 'smoky' on me as well as 'leathery'.

I love le lion! The only Chanel that works on me. Saving up for a bottle.

It's dried down a bit now, but all I can smell is an antiseptic aroma. I think it's my body chemistry. For example I love Molecule 01 on other people, but no one can ever smell it on me

No, I'm the same as you. Absolutely love Coco, but hated Le Lion when I tried a quick spritz in Fenwick's. Had to go and wash it off later that day as the smell was so horrible.

Yeh, I've had to wash it off, the smell was just too overpowering

I’m the same OP. I’ve worn Coco for decades (!) tried Le Lion, and couldn’t scrub it off fast enough.
