Can you please me?! Early 50's, size 16, insecure and no idea what to wear!!

Ds is only 10 so I really need to suck it up and take him swimming (and we're also going on holiday in October) but I'm soooo conscious and insecure at the moment. I hate my thighs in particular but just going to have to get over that I guess....

I have become more modest. So I like tankinis with either shorts that cover my bum or short board shorts. There are things like bikini bottoms with a short skirt attached.

Depends what you'd prefer to cover 😉 there are swimming tshirts as well, like for surfing and others

Have a look at Regatta - the aceana ii tankini top and aceana shorts.

Slazenger boyleg ladies. Really comfortable, not expensive and good coverage

Just go for it, you'll be amazed, nobody is actually looking at you or thinking about what your thighs look like. I think you can draw more attention to yourself by trying to cover up with skirts and what not, just order few online in a variety of shapes you like he look of and try them on when you've got time and are not feeling rushed. Shop changing rooms are not your friend Smile

I’m a fan of Boden swimwear. I’ve got the swim shorts, you could mix and match with a bright tankini or one of their rash vests. But mainly don’t worry! Nobody is looking

I’m also a fan of Boden swimwear. It’s really well made. On average, a swimsuit or tankini will cost about £80. I always get mine in the sale, usually about 40% off. This style is a perennial. I have a couple of colourways of it in swimsuits and another in a tankini. It’s very flattering, comfortable and the ‘girls’ are nice and secure, with straps that don’t move.
