Holes!

RaraRachael · 22/07/2022 08:57

I'm fed up finding small holes in the lower front of my t-shirts. I thought it was the buckle of my belt but I've stopped wearing it and it hasn't improved. I put on a t-shirt that had a couple of holes in it a few weeks ago and now there are about 12.

What on earth could be causing this as I'm completely puzzled by it,

Leaning onto something?
I had problems with small holes but they were not just lower front. Due to faulty tumble dryer.

I’ve decided it’s where t shirts rub against kitchen work surfaces, especially if I’m wearing an apron which I always do when cooking. The rest of the family don’t get the holes, they’re only in that part of the clothing so not moths. I don’t buy t shirts and expect them to last any more

I get these amd always thought it was from fly/ button on jeans.

I struggled with this for ages. It was the worktop. Now have wood instead of laminate and no more holes.

I used to get them in every top I wore to work, where I had a habit of sitting so close to the wooden desk that my belly rubbed against it. Between the desk and the trouser belt buckle / button, fabric chafed away. So annoying on favourite tops, doesn't happen to husband.

Hasn't been happening since I worked out it's better to sit just slightly further back from the desk.

I'm not in the kitchen long enough for it to be the worktop causing the problem Wink

DH gets these, I don’t. There have been various threads about this, it is a well known phenomenon, that nobody seems to have quite got to the bottom of, but buttons and belt buckles seem the likely thing. The t shirts wear thin at that point and eventually you get holes.

I think it’s either the kitchen counter, or some kind of rubbing between jeans button and seat belt in the car.

RaininSummer · 22/07/2022 09:40

I get them and think it's where I catch the fabric in the zip in my jeans.

Hot rocks. Well it is on my ds’s t shirts. 😁

LoobyDop · 22/07/2022 11:55

It’s from the tshirt being caught between jeans buttons and the kitchen worktop. I’ve had much less of a problem with it since I started tucking my tops in at the front.
