Chub-rub shorts: pants underneath?

Sorry for thick question but are you supposed to wear undies? The shorts I've bought don't have a flat, lined gusset; there's just a seam joining the too legs together. Seems like you need pants too. TK MAXX Nautica is the brand.

I dont

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 21/07/2022 18:10

I do - I don’t fancy the positioning of that seam! Mine are a bit like men’s jersey trunks (from Amazon and sold as women’s) and have no gusset.

pinklillie · 21/07/2022 18:12

I wear pants under mine as they feel more comfortable that way. I have a few different types but one type is like a tights material so saving anyone from seeing my backside is a must!

whiteroseredrose · 21/07/2022 18:30

I wear knickers under mine. I think of them as short tights

GoldenGorilla · 21/07/2022 18:32

I wear pants under one set as the seam is uncomfortable. But the m and s ones have a flat gusset sewn in so I wear them alone. Obv cooler in hot weather to go without the pants!

MrsMontyD · 21/07/2022 18:34

I don't, mine have a gusset, they're proper knickers with legs in.

DosmammasTTC · 21/07/2022 18:36

I don't the seam of my undies causes more rub and chaffing than my actual thighs!

Toddlerteaplease · 21/07/2022 19:32

Definitely, they are like normal shorts.

HundredMilesAnHour · 21/07/2022 21:11

I wear Jockey Skimmies. They have a gusset and are knickers with legs so definitely no pants required as why would you wear double pants?!

Buddingbudlia · 21/07/2022 21:20

I haven't been but I'm wondering whether I should have... mine have no gusset but are knicker like material which was why I didn't...tbh its been too hot. If people wear thongs then a chub rub pair of shorts is fine...I'm going to use these in the winter now and buy gusseted ones for the summer next year.

NoParticularPattern · 21/07/2022 21:22

Mine are just like short tights to I do. But if I had some which were more like pants material or had a gusset then probably wouldn’t.

resuwen · 21/07/2022 21:41

Mine are made from the same material as pants, and have a gusset, so I just wear those. They are a godsend!

newyorkbreakfast · 22/07/2022 07:04

Thanks everyone, they're obviously all made a bit differently and mine definitely feel weird without pants so I'll give that a go.

Yes, I treat them like shorts.

SpringIntoChaos · 22/07/2022 07:37

Yes I do...would you wear knickers under cycling shorts? Of course you would...so what's the difference? 🤷‍♀️

PanicAtTheDisco2000 · 22/07/2022 08:16

It sounds like you sound for those. I have some Sloggi Basic Long Briefs and they have a proper gusset (and are shorts style to stop chub rub)

StarlightLady · 22/07/2022 08:48

I don’t wear chub rub shorts, but my general rule with anything is that if it is tight fitting and has a cotton gusset (not a centre seam -ouch!), you don’t need knickers. Obviously they need washing after one wear, but body fitting things do anyway.

Most cycle shorts are designed to be worn without knickers too.

I don’t wear knickers with tights either (always buy ones with a cotton gusset), they stop up better that way. The clue is often depicted in the picture on the packet.

Maltester71 · 22/07/2022 08:59

what Brand do we all have?

I have some snag ones and M&S

i like both, but I’d like a pair that hold the tummy in too, like control tights?

Queenie24 · 22/07/2022 09:18

I’ve got snag chub rub shirts that are tights material they have a cotton gusset but but I’ve never thought about wearing them with out knickers.

MrsOwainGlyndŵr · 22/07/2022 09:42

Yes because it never crossed my mind that not wearing pants was an option! And because if I wear pants I can wear the shorts more than once.

StarlightLady · 22/07/2022 10:09

@MrsOwainGlyndŵr -It’s Catch 22! You are washing shorts less but washing more knickers. I wouldn’t wear any shorts which are tight fitting more than once anyway.

GunsNShips · 22/07/2022 10:19

I have the snag one which are like a pair of tights. They do have a gusset like a pp its never crossed my mind not to wear pants. You need to wash them every wash anyway because if I need chub rub shorts it’s because I’m sweating.
