Has anyone had this and was it worth it.

im thinking of getting my bikini line lasered. It’s quite expensive so wanted to know is it worth it, how many sessions did you have any how long between sessions.

also, does it hurt 😉

I've had it done. It wasn't cheap but after years of ingrown and double hair growth it's the best thing I ever did.

I had 6 treatments and saw a massive improvement after the first session. It's uncomfortable rather than painful. But I hated my bikini line so much I wouldn't have cared if it hurt!

I love it! I haven't had to wax, shave or use hair removal creams for over 15 years.

@JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn that sounds great. I have same problems ingrown hairs, itchy rash. How long is it between each treatment

I’ve done it recently and it’s brilliant. It doesn’t hurt, lasts ages (hopefully forever!) and just makes a big difference.

I could never have shaved that area due to painful, itchy regrowth so this is a game changer for me. It doesn’t have to be expensive either - I got mine done at a national chain which uses medical grade laser and has some brilliant deals. You can get both bikini (any bikini) and underarm done - 10 sessions- for only about £220 or thereabouts. Cheaper than buying an at-home IPL machine!

sessions are about 6 weeks apart.

savemeagin · 20/07/2022 15:16

I'd also be interested in this but not sure on the costing etc.

Pifflewiffle · 20/07/2022 20:00

I had my cheeks, chin and upper lip done at Sk:n about 10 years ago and it was the best thing I’ve done. They had really good discount offers pretty often too and I never paid full price for a course. It took a lot of treatments but I have hirsutism. I could only afford to get my face done as it would have cost a fortune to do my body and upper legs/arms. But I’m so glad I did it and Sk:in (well the branch I went to) were really professional.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 20/07/2022 20:37

@ChangingFaces39 it was about 6 weeks in between each session. But to honest the first session was so good that those final sessions were just too ups. The best thing is that hair needs to be shaved for treatment so there was no embarrassing long hair in between treatments.

Honestly, I cannot tell you how much it changed my life! I had bikini line and thighs done. All were very thick dark and bushy. Now there's nothing! It's brilliant! I never have to think about it ever again. Worth every single penny.

Schooldil3ma · 20/07/2022 20:43

I had mine done about 15 years ago at Sk:in, you used to be able to pay with Clubcard vouchers!
It's most effective if you've thick dark hair. I had a bush a 70s porn star would have envied, I have the odd whisp now but nothing unmanageable.
I found it quite uncomfortable, but certainly not unbearable.

cannaethink · 20/07/2022 20:53

I’ve paid £250 for 10 sessions for a Brazilian. I’ve only had one session so far but there’s a big reduction in growth already.
It was a bit snappy in parts but they blow cold air at the same time so I mostly just felt that. It’s quick too so totally manageable.

Sandcastles24 · 20/07/2022 21:06

Where did you go for 250 for 10 sessions I have never seen it that cheap around me

prepared101 · 20/07/2022 21:12

There's another thread on this in 30 days only. My reply copied from there:

I've had two sessions of a course of 8. I have fair skin, dark hair so am and 'ideal' candidate. It's life changing. I am having pits, full bikini and full legs lasered and have already noticed a massive difference to hair growth and the appearance of my skin. I haven't shaved my armpits for two weeks and only have a couple of wispy hairs. My legs I have just been whizzing a razor over once a week and my bikini line and the top is much smoother- the underneath still hairier but they did say this takes long.

I wish I'd done it years ago. I've spent years covering up in the summer because of regrowth, ingrown hairs, folliculitis, razor burn etc. The last few weeks have been great.

I signed up for 8 sessions because it was 50% off for the course so I've paid about £1300. The clinic I go to use a soprano ice platinum medical grade laser- a lot of places sell 'laser' that is actually IPL.

Also, it's not pain free; it can sting a bit!

Goodnewsday · 20/07/2022 21:17

I’ve been looking at getting this done! It seems like it would be so worth it, especially for underarms and bikini area but actually even just to be able to wear a dress etc without having to worry about your legs. I don’t think you can have it straight after being in the sun so I’m waiting til I’m back my holiday then I’m going to book in. The only thing now putting me off is we might start trying for another baby in January and I’d guess you can’t get it while pregnant so I’d either need to stop mid way through a block or priorise being hair-free over a baby 😂

Check out the deals at Therapie. This is the chain I went to and they use medical grade laser, similar to Sk:n. They have a great deal on at the moment, similar to the one I got before so you’ll pay for bikini (10 sessions for about £220 ish) and get underarm free. I also have a link which will also get both of us £30 free laser if you want it - pm me for info if you’re interested.

Thereisnolight · 20/07/2022 21:41

It is so so worth it
Not permanent initially. Can take a lot of sessions - perhaps a few years even, if you have heavy growth - to become permanent.
But you’ll notice progressive lightening from first session.
so so worth it!!

Therapie. They’ve always got special offers on it seems!

feelingprettylight · 20/07/2022 22:02

Yes you need to look for salons tht have a Soprano Ice Machine.

I had 10 sessions on bikini and under arm and apart from 3 very fine and fair hair in each area it totally worked!

feelingprettylight · 20/07/2022 22:03

And don't be scared of groupon - as long as you find a salon that has that machine (sk:n uses them) then you'll be fine.

Sandcastles24 · 20/07/2022 22:30

Thanks a lot. I can't get it done at the moment but I will keep them in mind for when I am able

CheerUpSleepyGene · 20/07/2022 23:17

Go for it! I had bikini line and naval done nearly 12 years ago at Sk:n, one of the best beauty investments I’ve made. I use a Lumea on my legs which has reduced the volume and slowed hair re growth but you can’t beat a salon-grade laser! I’ll have full leg laser one day

To me the laser is like an elastic band pinged against the skin. I didn’t mind it as you’re focused on the prize. The slight wiff of burning hair is also quite satisfying!

RicitosdeOro · 22/07/2022 13:05

I’ve posted my referral link for £30 of free laser at Therapie on the bargains and referrals board (number 4), in case anyone is interested.

Jules54321 · 16/09/2023 00:39

Hi- I know this thread is dormant now but thought you might see this if mumsnet alerts you! Could I ask which salon or company you used for your laser treatments please? 😊

RicitosdeOro · 16/09/2023 08:15

@Jules54321 i went to Therapie.

Jules54321 · 16/09/2023 08:19

Thank you! And are you still pleased with the results now some time has passed?
