What do you keep your makeup brushes in?

I need to replace my makeup brush holder. Currently I have two but would like one lovely holder that will look nice in my bathroom. It doesn't have to be an item specifically for this purpose but I can't make up my mind what would be best. What do you all use? Bonus for photos of said receptacles. Thanks.

At the moment it's ceramic pots from a few years ago from IKEA. India Jane etc have similar ceramic jars. So do Oliver Bonas I think.

Or tins with removable lids.

I have three containers for brushes and pencils: a repurposed glass candle jar, a blue and white china pot picked up in a charity shop, and a pot I made at school in the 1980s.

We have a cat who loves makeup brushes so I got a rectangular acrylic container with a flip top lid. Fill with small beads to keep the brushes standing. There are a bunch to choose from online. I just bought a small one on amazon.

mine are in silver coloured mesh pen pots from ikea or in a drawer

I have three of these, two small and one large on my dressing table and separate my brushes into face, eye and lip in them. They look pretty and they were very cheap.

Chucked in a drawer!

ApolloandDaphne · 19/07/2022 15:00

Thank you. A variety of different options for me to peruse. I think the ceramic pen pot style is what I am leaning towards.

Mine are in a kilner jar. I wash them on a Sunday and put the jar through the dishwasher then too.

The ceramic pen pot style I find really easy to use. John Lewis have some nice ones. When I look at IKEA online they don't seem to have any and I wouldn't fancy IKEA in the heat at the best of times!

That is super organised!

Some nice ones in JL. My nearest Ikea is 60 miles away so I am not going there!

I keep mine in espresso cups. The cups look nice and the brushes don’t fall out.

I cannot picture this at all. Espresso cups are tiny. Not one of my brushes would stand up in one.

I have them in a pen style pot

serenghetti2011 · 19/07/2022 17:52

I’ve got a Lara Faye pot that is covered which is lovely stops brushes gathering dust or whatever I don’t keep mine in the bathroom though as with steam from shower etc I’d prefer to have them in my room. Lara Faye brushes are lovely too

PeloAddict · 19/07/2022 21:13

Old candle jars, I use them to hold reusable cotton wool pads and cotton buds too

PeloAddict · 19/07/2022 21:15

Yes I have a lot of makeup so not apologising for the mess!

A mug

seramu · 19/07/2022 21:46

I use a little wicker basket split into 4 sections, so each section holds something different. Identical to the one below.

I use this which I think I came from Tikamoon but you can get similar from Oliver Bonas and Amazon.

I store mine in an empty Jo Malone candle pot. I keep empty mini Diptyqie pots to store cotton wool in and I balance my Beauty Blender on a tiny empty Diptyque pot so it dries after washing and doesn't get mouldy.
