Heading to Singapore and Thailand in November, so starting to build a really nice summer wardrobe.
Help me pic a few key bits.

I love this thread as you are introducing me to loads of née websites/labels

bitachey · 25/09/2022 08:05

@Hop27 Nice things but I’d steer away from polyester-too sweaty for the tropics!!!

StarlightLady · 25/09/2022 09:16

I think you have your wardrobe about right. I’m a regular visitor to Singapore for work. As stated by others, Air Con works overtime and makes places feel like a walk in freezer. Keep a cardigan with you at all times.

Unless you intend to commit a crime, ”Conservative Singapore” is something of a myth outside of Little India and the Arab quarter and you can wear what you like in most places. The myth is further demonstrated by the number of openly lesbian couples you see around Clark Quay. There is also the largest female only club in Asia on the Outram Road.

Although Singapore is not cheap, there are some great clothes bargains to be had in China Town, especially the markets. so save some room in your bags for new things.

Finally, remember it is likely to rain for some of most days (often in the afternoon) as well, so you need to cater for wet weather, humid weather, hot weather and freezing AC.

Hop27 · 25/09/2022 10:05

@bitachey I'm not sure there is much polyester in the bits I've picked Blush but might be wrong !

@Hop27 The kimono jacket in your last post is polyester

StarlightLady · 25/09/2022 11:35

It’s controversial time. Although there is a general attitude on MN that polyester was sent to planet Earth by the devil, it does wash through and dry quickly and easily with minimum creasing.

Hop27 · 25/09/2022 11:59

I doubt I'll melt in one single poly item that's light and not tight fitted. But thanks @bitachey for the heads up.

DH picked these fab swimmers for me!

OP, I like it, but what is it like at the back? So many cosies have the back come up so high. I'm not sure when it was considered to be risqué to show your back but I wish the high back style would stop.

Hop27 · 15/10/2022 22:38

@StarlightLady
Back is high cut but not too revealing!

Also bought this on Friday .....

Might be time to stop.

OP, thanks for that. I like the cut of the cosie and I’d wear that. But being a woman of a certain age l remember when a scooped back was the norm. I fail to understand why designers either go for a high back or a bikini type band across the back. It’s just not necessary.

With apologies for the slight derail.

Enjoy the dress too!

sausage767 · 16/10/2022 04:51

Love most of your picks! I’ve just ordered those Tony Bianco studded flats, just what I was looking for. I’ve tried on those Decjuba jelly flats and hated them.

Hop27 · 16/10/2022 06:53

@StarlightLady - hahah I thought you were meaning the cut of the bottom being too cheeky 🤣

@sausage767 Witchery have got jelly sandals too - I missed out on them last year. Might need to get them too!

OP, the bottom cut is fine. I’m in my 40s and have similar. It’s the extra unnecessary straps on modern swimwear l don’t like.
