Bigger feet/trainers

If you have e.g. size 8(42) feet, what trainers do you wear? I've always been paranoid about looking like a clown but have been lusting after some comfortable/go-with-all-sorts trainers. I'd want to wear them with bare legs/leggings and maybe skinnies in winter.
I like the look of gazelles but think Superstars might be more flattering- breaking up the front part seems to help.
I know there's nothing I can do about the size of my feet but there's no point investing if I won't wear them through self consciousness!

I tried Gazelles but they just seemed really clumpy and didn't flatter my feet at all. Last summer I lived in Superga but they're not as supportive as proper trainers.

AuntieMarys · 16/07/2022 09:54

I'm a narrow 9/10 and wear Superga or New Balance. I don't care if my feet look big. They are! And no-one cares

ISeeTrees · 16/07/2022 09:55

Thank you @ChristinePerfect I'm leaning towards Superga after looking online. I really need to go into a shop to try on and see but I hate the pressure to buy!

43/44 here and the Nike new internationalist trainers are flattering enough!

ISeeTrees · 17/07/2022 20:39

@AuntieMarys I need to channel your attitude! I think it's just something I've always been quite self conscious of.
@JuneOsborne I like the look of those- used to find Nike a bit on the narrow side but certainly worth a try.

Men's ones. Or, as the guy who owns the Running Shop likes to call them 'shoes that actually fit'.

Shmithecat2 · 17/07/2022 21:05

I'm a 43/44 - Superga Efglus are gorgeous. I like Adidas Superstars too, the shell toe breaks the space up.

These off Amazon. I'm a size 9 and these are lightweight and just as comfy (if not more so) than Fitbit at three times the price.

I'm a 43.
Brooks for running
New Balance retro for casual
Some random white leather gum soles ones from Crew Clothing for work - far comfier than the Converse they emulate.

TheTeenageYears · 17/07/2022 22:29

Superstars are quite clunky so would probably look big - what about Stan Smith's?

Thighdentitycrisis · 17/07/2022 22:57

I have Brooks in 9 for running
I want a proper pair of casual trainers but Im fussy . I spent months earlier this year looking. Settled for off white canvas from H&M because I couldn’t find anything that fitted/I liked enough

LightOfAThousandStars · 18/07/2022 00:11

Stan Smith or Air Force 1s

If you are on Facebook, join the Tallternative Retail group and search through the previous postings. Lots of ideas for where to get larger sized footwear. (incl wider and narrow feet) Converse get mentioned a lot. Magnus shoe shop in London (online sales too) and Cinderella shoes in Ireland (online sales too) Look for trainers that have less lace holes as they make your feet look less long. ASOS, Next and New Look have larger sizes online.

LostInTheColonies · 18/07/2022 01:17

Adidas do larger sizes! Not that 8/42 is very big though. I'm a 43; DSis a 44.
