First bikini wax tomorrow..

boymamaa · 07/07/2022 20:04

Hi!

As the title explains I'm going for my first bikini wax tomorrow and I'm really nervous!

I'm not sure if I should trim the hair around slightly or will it be okay (about 3-4 weeks growth)

Also what's the usual protocol? Keep pants on? Do I need to go for a particular type of knickers?

Thank you!!

Dont trim, the hair needs a good 3-4 weeks growth for an effective wax! I usually offer disposable undies to clients, but most of mine wear an old pair of theyre own! You'll be fine and will love the results! There's no protocol, we work around underwear although some regulars don't bother with any. Dont be nervous, us therapists do bikini waxes every day and have amazing towel techniques for modesty!!

I'm off for a wax tomorrow too but it's been years of waxing for me! I have a thong I keep specifically. I don't trim, I make sure I avoid body lotion around that area after shower so that the wax can grip well and that's it! It gets easier the more you go. I also recommend gentle exfoliation to avoid ingrowing hairs.

I'm so nervous! Is it very effective to take a paracetamol beforehand?
I've never had to bare my bits before without it being very neat and tidied up!

I'm very nervous but I'm looking forward to not worrying about the growth on holiday 😊

Treating myself to a manicure and pedicure along with it

@boymamaa Don't be nervous. It'll be fine. I barely register it now. Somebody mentioned paracetamol, that's a good shout. I can't imagine ever going back to shaving now or having a big old bush 🤣

That's cheered me up!

I read some horror stories and imagined me getting there and the therapist just not talking to me 😂 I like chattiness to pass the time haha

You could ring up your waxer and ask about Emla cream?

You apply it 30 mins before.

I use it when I get a tattoo.

But ask your waxer if this is ok with waxing I've never used it for that.

limitededitionbarbie · 07/07/2022 20:32

I used to get a Brazilian and she always said take your knickers off but I just couldn't I'd rather she just let me move them about.

No actual point to this really as she literally made me lie on my side and pull my arse cheeks apart and as she said " I see so many vaginas every week I have seen them all"

But it's whatever your comfortable with.

AnxietyForever · 07/07/2022 20:32

@TheFormidableMrsC Which exfoliater do you use for that area? Thanks

I've been getting mine waxed for about a year now but notorious for Ingrown hairs

rickandmorts · 07/07/2022 20:35

Are you having a hot wax or a strip wax?

Dilemmaemmaaa · 07/07/2022 20:36

I really don’t think they care AT ALL! I’ve been getting hollywood waxes purely when I go on holiday for the last few years. I used to be quite self conscious and presumed I was the hairiest person they’d ever seen. I go to a place specifically for intimate waxing which makes me feel a bit better about it and they posted on Facebook how many bikini waxes they do per week. It was a lot! When I saw that I thought there is no way they can even flinch at seeing mine then 🤣 they use hot wax rather than strip wax for there and underarms, makes it hurt a lot less. I don’t know how far you’re going (😬) but the only bit that actually hurts is the very inner bit between your legs, the front is completely fine! They always just say to take a few deep breaths as they pull that bit off. One woman I get talks about anything other than what she’s doing so it’s not awkward but it gets to bits where I’m tensing up preparing for it to hurt and feel like I have to stop talking til she’s yanked it off 🤣 It really is such a short term pain though and lasts seconds at the bad bits.

At mine for a Hollywood you go in, put a towel over yourself lying on the bed, no pants, she does the front then gets you to pull your knees to your chest to get further back then you roll onto your side and pull one bum cheek apart basically for her to do the bum. It’s almost so ridiculously intimate that it doesn’t feel embarrassing though because there’s just no dignity left 🤣 good luck

@AnxietyForever

You can buy a thing called In grow from boots.

Works for me

I just use an exfoliating sponge and soap. Lots of moisturiser after. It's always worked for me.

doadeer · 08/07/2022 13:29

How did it go?

How did it go?

Honestly don't know what I was worried about! It was fab (I did book my nails done and a pedicure for afterwards as a treat 😂)

Wanting to get it done regularly but unsure how much time to leave in between for the hair to grow back

How was the pain?? I really want mine done, I hate having hair down there and I'm fed up of shaving.

I have nightmares of catching my labia in the hot wax and it makes me want to shiver but l beauty is pain

Please be honest how bad was it???

Dilemmaemmaaa · 08/07/2022 19:21

@youcantparktheresir if you go somewhere that does hot wax and not strip wax it is really not painful for most of it. The inner but is the only nippy bit and it’s a few seconds. The thought of Strip wax down there makes me shiver

It was hot wax they used and it hurt don't get me wrong but not so painful that I couldn't sit through it. It's quick and the only painful part is the pull, after that it's fine.. funnily enough the further down the bikini line the less it hurt..
I just kept chatting on and the woman was amazing and really put me at ease.

They always say they've seen it all before it doesn't faze them and I believe that.

The results are well worth the discomfort

I just popped a couple ibuprofen around 15 minutes before and think it helps that it was so warm

Any of you waxing experts could give me advice on aftercare? Is it best to have a cool shower? It's not painful there's just a few bumps. Is it best to slather a lot of moisturiser on?

This is an old thread but I went for my first hollywood tax on Tuesday. It was the same price as a normal wax which I was having done anyhow so I thought why not!

I took some paracetamol 1 hour before and actually it wasn't too bad. The hair at the top hurt more than the labia and it took around 15 min. It didn't feel awkward at all - the woman seemed like it was just a normal leg wax.

It was £25 for a full leg wax + hollywood in NW Zone 2 London booked via Treatwell. The salon normal price is £40. I know Treatwell take a huge commission like Uber Eats so I don't know why they just don't advertise this price direct! Even on the salon website when you click "book now" it takes you to the Treatwell website.
