Ring question

I have my Grandmother's wedding ring but have never used it because (i) I've never been married (ii) it's tiny! So it just sits in a box.

Now, I am getting married. I know I can have it enlarged, but does anyone know anything about whether it's possible to redesign it some how, so that the ring is incorporated into a new ring, of a design that's personal to me?

Or should I just stick with having it enlarged?

Definitely you can have the gold melted and used in a new ring. Visit a local independent jeweller and ask for a quote. Either your design or the jeweller will help you design it.

I just had my engament ring and my nans engament rings melted down and remodelled by an independent jeweller. I added a ruby with the diamonds on each side and it cost £600.

Absolutely you can have it reworked into something you love.

It won't necessarily be any cheaper than buying a new ring- in fact it will probably cost you more as the jeweller has to melt down and reform the gold into a new ring blank.

However the sentimental value of using some family gold often outweighs that.

Thanks all. I'll have a think about what I'd like it to look like.
