OK, I've finalised my favourite make-up products! (Simple and for pale skin)

Hello

I'm not someone who actually likes playing around with make-up. Much like cooking, it's a means to an end for me! I'm crap at technique - couldn't do a smoky eye to save myself.

I'm 39 and have v pale, redness-prone skin. I've tried MAC, NARS, Maybelline, Rimmel, etc and have actually found No7 to often have the best products. They need to bring out a creamy concealer tho!

My make up is now:

  • No7 Beautifully Matte Foundation (even after its reformulation!)

  • MAC Longwear concealer in NW15 for under-eyes and redness around nose (I also like NARS radiant creamy concealer but its TWICE the price).

  • Bronzer - any old thing really

  • Powder Blush - Avon in peach shade

  • Lips - No7 matt lip crayon in a dark pink shade or Stila Convertible Colour in Rose/Poppy

  • Eyeshadow - any brown powder tbh!

  • Mascara - no7 extreme lengths waterproof.

Comments welcome!

It's great when you finally find the products that work for you, isn't it?

I recently discovered that NARS Deauville is exactly the right shade for me ( MAC would be NC15 probably, so around the same shade as you but different undertone), and that's been a game changer.

I've concentrated much more on skincare in the past couple of years, so I don't need to worry about having a dense looking base as my skin is now pretty good -most days I don't bother with foundation at all, just concealer round my nose, chin and any blotchy bits, a dab of powder, eyebrows, bronzer and lipstick.

So at the moment my perfect make up bag looks like this:

( if going all out):

Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter in Medium

Nars Light Reflecting foundation

Collection concealer ( the NARS creamy concealer dupe)

Powder along T zone, currently using a CT one which I'm not fussed about but need to use up.

Bronzer - Normally Hoola but have been using a Revolution one which is pretty good

Stila convertible colour in Camellia for blush

Mascara - currently working my way through a load of drugstore ones but will probably go back to Lancôme Hypnose like I always do

ByTerry Ombré blackstar Bronze Moon to scribble on an eye

Max Factor Brow Revival (cheaper than Boy Brow and just as good)

Lipsticks- I go with the flow, depending if I fancy bright or not. Currently enjoying Revolutions 'Ruby'and 'Heart Race'

Oh snap, I've been concentrating on skincare partly so I DON'T have to fuss with foundations!

NARS doesn't have a counter near me but MAC has one with a v helpful lady in my local Boots, makes all the difference! I rely on someone else to colourmatch me, especially when there are more than 3 shades although tbh I can't usually go too far wrong just by picking the lightest one!

You're so lucky being able to choose any bronzer. My skin is pale but if the bronzer is too warm it looks awful on me. Maybe it's my undertones? I have to try and find almost grey ones?!

Cheerios257 · 03/07/2022 19:30

I came on hoping for a new foundation idea for pale skin because I’m not keen on the new formulation of the Beautifully Matte 😆OP - did you have to change shade? I found the new one lighter than the old formula.

ChinBristles · 03/07/2022 19:33

@Cheerios257 shame! I'm using the Creme shade of No7 foundation (the very lightest) and it seems fine! I can't remember what shade I used before.

@SmileyPiuPiu they all look orange to me and I only wear a tiny bit. So I could be getting it wrong!

Yes, agreed that I need a cool toned bronzer that seems a bit grey - if I'm going all out on make up I use a greyish one to go under cheekbones and then a warmer one on the apples of cheeks/ across nose etc.

EveParker22 · 26/07/2022 12:07

Do you use a tinted SPF? The altruist one is amazing!!!! Also Heliocare 360!! I just bought it.

MistyRock · 26/07/2022 17:22

I'm pretty pale and I find bronzer doesn't really suit me, I just stick with blusher. But Benefit do have a lite hoola.
