Recommend me a foundation

I am really struggling to find a foundation to suit my skin. I always moisturise and use a Primer but am finding a the ones I used to be happy with are now too craggy and too matt.
I am 44 with combination skin. Some dry parts and some greasy. I used to use double wear but it just doesn't give the same finish as it used to. I have tried number 7 and the nars glow one and neither worked for me. I want something that evens my skin tone, makes it dewy not matt and isn't going to sit in my creases/pores. Can anyone recommend something?

Ill say it before someone else does but maybe you need to start with skincare?

What was wrong with the no 7 and nars?

Chanel have a nice dewy one.

Do you want something as heavy coverage as the double wear?

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 02/07/2022 22:25

I really like urban decay hydromaniac it’s got enough coverage to even out skin tone but not enough to settle into any fine lines to under my eyes.

a cheap one I used when needed to get one and only had a Superdrug is the revolution filter one. Think ot was £10. In fact a few revolution ones have been surprisingly good. The cc one is well.

a bit more coverage is the chanel vitalumiere.

im 46 with combination skin and a few lines by my eyes but otherwise unlined.

I've just brought the Chanel LES BEIGES WATER-FRESH COMPLEXION TOUCH which is more like a tinted moisturiser and has a lightweight feeling on the skin

The ordinary serum foundation.
It's not heavy, sits so nicely on the skin and gives a nice dewy finish.

It's my fave by far and is cheap as chips.

I have combination skin, pores were never itty bitty but are massive since I started wearing a mask, a few creases here and there, though not massive!
The Shiseido Synchro Skin Self-Refreshing is a dewy finish and very comfortable. I feel like it makes everything look better and more polished but it's only a buildable medium-coverage. This is not high-coverage, so if you want to hide under a war mask this it but if you want to look like you but better this might be for you. It's not very high-maintenance for applying but I don't know whether the price will suit you as it's on the more expensive end of the spectrum.
The biggest negative I can think of is that with Shiseido being a Japanese brand you won't be spoilt for choice in terms of shades.
I suggest you get a sample and see it works for you. P.S. I would avoid the radiant one, when I tried it I felt like all the my small-ish issues became larger.
Also, I never powder my whole face, only under the eyes so I don't know how it would hold under powder. I use a moisturiser with SPF50 and primer, and it holds up fine, doesn't cake or pool anywhere.

if you want to hide under a war mask this isn't it

Coffeesnob11 · 03/07/2022 16:21

Sorry I should have been clearer. I don't think I need full coverage. My skin is not terrible. My pores are quite big on my nose but I wore full coverage as I was recommended the foundation and it seemed better than those I had git from the supermarket etc. I have already asked on here about colour correctors as it's my under eyes that are blue/green. The rest just needs evening out.

IT Cosmetics CC cream. There’s one that has illuminator in it as well if you want a dewy finish. I use the regular one. Plus the concealer under the eyes.

Dust ‘bye-bye pores’ across your nose/cheeks, and use setting spray instead of powder under your eyes to minimise crinkling!

This has almost zero coverage just to warn you op

Guerlain L'Essentiel High Perfection might be what you're looking for. It's dewy (though I think it's being passed off as matte I don't think it is, it's very light dewy finish) and it makes my face look more polished, again like the Shiseido one this is one far from high-coverage. It's lighter coverage than the Shiseido one. Very comfortable to wear though not cheap.
I never recommend L'Oréal because where I am I can't test them before buying but if you can test them, there's usually one for you and the price is just right along with fab quality.
MAC Studio Face and Body is a satiny light finish and a lot of people swear by it. I'd try that one too.

Oceanus · 03/07/2022 16:56

Wanted to add that even though the Guerlain one isn't particularly cheap, a little bit goes a really long way. I got a sample shaped as a mini bottle (a lot bigger than most samples but still small) and I wore it regularly for a month so the real bottle should keep you going for ages. I also need more on the brush from the Shiseido one vs this Guerlain foundation to do my face up.
