Jeans bum pockets

Isn't there a thing where the more spaced out they are the wider your arse looks?
Or too close together? I can't recall now, but they really do make or break a purchase for me.

If the placement is too high up (lookin' at you, M&S) they make my backside look too long. Too low down (very low rise) and it's like my cheeks are sliding off.

Is there a perfect back pocket ratio?

Anyone else choose their jeans based on the back pockets? If i cant see them on. a model they can keep them!

For instance, Joules jeans are great quality but always make my arse look square and flat. Fatface make it more rounded and pert. Primark are sore contenders too, but I can live with H&M, even if they're hit and miss.

I was watching a youtube video saying if the pockets are wider it can make your bum look bigger, which is great for my flat bum.

I don’t know if there’s a formula for the perfect spacing but I definitely consider back pocket placement before buying! I’m with you on the M&S pocket placing: it’s too high for me. I also have an otherwise great pair of jeans from Boden with the same issue. Think they’re going on Vinted tbh.

From the high street I have 2 pairs from Next that are very flattering. Both are several years old and the current range doesn’t work for me.

Sadly (for my bank balance), I find premium denim more flattering. My all-time favourites are 7FAM, J Brand Lovestory and Hudson. I also prefer low-rise - although not knicker-flashing height - which definitely helps avoid the long bum look.
