Bra band or cup problem? Maybe both.

I've noticed my bras don't seem to cover far enough into the area between boob and armpit. I'd say I need a good inch of extra bra to cover it. My band is loose yet leaves marks so I'm not keen to have a tighter band. I've done to boos or bust measuring and nothing I've ordered has fit in the sizes they recommend. Currently wearing a 34d. A 32dd is far too tight in the same style. I've tried all sorts and nothing seems to fit comfortably. What am I doing wrong?

Google the boob or bust method and measure using that. It sounds like you're wearing far too small a cup to me.

Also, a tighter band won't move around as much so it won't rub. I'd bet you'd be better off closer to a 30G or something around there than what you're wearing now.

LadyDanburysHat · 29/06/2022 21:28

You need to scoop all of the boob flesh into your bra cup. If the cup is already full you need a bigger one. I also think that a tighter band would be good.

AlternativelyWired · 29/06/2022 21:53

I do scoop but it falls back out on the sides. My boobs are teardrop shaped and I've always struggled to get a decent fit. I tried a bralette style and it was awful. I need padding or moulding of some sort to sort out the lack of upper boob.

I read somewhere that boobs that shape need a 1/2 cup.

I used boob or bust. Originally measured a 28E but found it too tight. Changed to a 30DD which was perfect. They also started getting tight in the band (thought I'd got chubbier) but followed the BOB guidance and increased the cup to an E and problem solved. If your breast tissue is falling back out of the cup try a larger cup or style.

Shakeitshakeitbaby · 29/06/2022 22:05

Try different styles of bra. I cannot wear balconette or half cup bras at all, they don't fit. It is plunge or nothing for me.

Oblahdeeoblahdoe · 29/06/2022 22:06

Fantasie do bras with side support so when you scoop the cup holds all the breast tissue in place. I can't wear any other type now

AlternativelyWired · 29/06/2022 22:13

I've googled and found a photo to better explain. I've drawn the red line to show where I think the bra should fit to encompass all the breast tissue. My bra fits like the picture.

Could you possibly go and get measured? I think you need bigger cups too. I have a lot of side boob so I need to be careful that the cup doesn't cut into it. It's actually called the tail of Spence and some styles really dig in. It's not a size issue (for me) it's a design of bra issue. If the cup comes up too high it can really dig.

MistyRock · 29/06/2022 22:15

Also, you need to bend forward and scoop your boobs into the cup. If they overflow at the front the cup is too small.

Gr33ngr33ngr4ss · 29/06/2022 22:18

Bigger cup, smaller band.

Try balcony, plunge, high apex and half cup.
Scoop and bring them forwards from the back.

cherrypiepie · 29/06/2022 22:24

What dress size are you?

Roughly dress size plus 20 is a good rule of thumb for band size. So I'm a size 16 and I'm a 34F

I increased the cup side helped massively like in the photo there the cup is far too small imho.

I agree I reckon around 30G. Also some styles are better for each shape so have a look too.

I find some brands have a really short band vs others in the same size. I would try a few different brands.

There are also styles within a brand, which would cater more to your issue - I can't remember the correct terminology but search for wide set breasts/ bras or google your exact problem on one of the bra forums and you'll get specific style/brand suggestions.
