Headwear, hats for summer?

I sometimes want the sun off my head but have never worn hats and can't seem to find any that suit me.

I like casual clothes, shorts, strappy vest tops, leggings, so would feel silly with a straw beach hat or anything fancy. I tend not to wear dresses unless at an event or party.

What do you wear if you don't prefer fancy wide brimmed hats?
I try baseball style caps all the time but they all make my head look wide and flat somehow. I do have a smallish head though.

I also like bandana scarves but can't for the life of me position one correctly or find one that doesn't mess up or bother my hair.

I also feel that my hair and head get sweatier when I wear a hat of any sort!

So how to avoid too much sun on the head without this impossible conundrum?

Any ideas or tips welcome! (no to parasols, ok!)

They're not fancy, the brim isn't wide, will look fine dressed down

Cotton bucket hats, sun visors, different baseballs caps have different cuts and shapes so keep trying different styles of cap, you could try headscarf or casual cotton wide brimmed hats.

Thank you, i think i need to go and try some on. I always suit winter hats but struggle in summer. I also get really wild earache in strong wind so sometimes a summer hat is a must.

I don't like bucket hats but the panama sounds interesting. My DP has one and it never occurred to me to try one.

I will also go to a sport shop and try a few baseballs on for size!

I have a straw Stetson. It looks super cool with anything.
