Summer Epiphanies

At the grand age of nearly 39 I have decided as follows:

1. I don't actually want to go away on holiday.
2. I don't actually like sitting in the sun. (I'm blue/white/freckly) I'd rather be inside watching netflix as usual.
3. I don't actually like wearing dresses/skirts. I will stick with my leisure wear.
4. there is no such thing as a comfortable pair of sandals. It's much easier just to wear trainers and to hell with how I look.

Have you had any ephiphanies? Re summer or anything else?

Agree with all of these except 4. Teva sandals are very comfy!

I had a pair of Tevas that cut the inside of my heel! I still have a scar!

I also have scars on the top of my foot where Birkenstock straps rubbed.

My feet must be made of gossamer.

You sound like me! I wore sandals for years, just unconsciously choosing them as a summer staple. No more! I only wear Birks and trainers in summer, with Docs in winter.

I like the sun and don't have issues with it, but have always previously hid myself. I am now a convert to shorts as i love the beachy, casual look.

I can't agree with you about the holiday though

I also stopped wearing dresses this year. They are 'easy' but always make me feel like I can't run up a hill or climb a fence (like you do!). Nice for a cafe lunch but not my thing really.

My main epiphany this year is that I too suit leisurewear, and slimmer fitting clothes. I always hid before under baggy wafty things that I don't think suited me.. It is easy enough to find summer friendly options. I used to try to force myself to look sharper, more chic, but in reality I am just not drawn to that look. It is the first time i have bought strappy vest tops and realised I look great in them!
