Make up that isn't really makeup

I'm at a bit of a cross roads.

I've never worn much makeup, partly because I don't like the look of it on me, partly because I don't really know what to do with it (may well be the same thing) and partly because I don't really care enough to dedicate the time and money to it.

However, I recognise that now in middle age, I need "something". My current routine is:

Shaped and tinted eyebrows
Lifted and tinted lashes
A tinted primer
Touch of natural blusher
Tinted lip balm
Powder
Nails done

I'm thinking that my next "stage" should be the lips. A little bit stronger maybe but not full on lip stick, which I don't like the feeling of and which I'm not going to be reapplying during the day, even if I think I will.

Is there such a thinkbas a coloured lip balm that stays put and give proper colour, rather than just a tint?

Or what about a stain? Which are good ones?

Rimmel 1000 kisses lip stain is good, as is filling in your lips with a dark lip pencil then topping up with tinted lip balm.

I like using lip stain, and then I'll put a balm or gloss on top. The gloss wears off but the colour stays put.

I use a lip pencil that matches my lip colour, just outside the lipline so that the thinning of lips due to age is restored. Then tinted lip balm.

There are so many types of lipstick out there at the moment, it sounds like you haven't found the right blend that works for you.

This is a link to just what is available in Boots by No.7:
www.boots.com/no7-make-up/no7-make-up-lips

There are moisture drench, matt finish, gloss finish, lip tint, lip stain, lip gloss, lip crayon.

If you go for another brand it's likely going to be the same.

There is one that I have found that when I apply it, it stays for the majority of the day, even after eating and drinking (which does lessen the intensity of any lip coating), and it's this one:

Cheap as chips but seems to have a lasting power unlike any other.
