Do you have a beauty fridge?

Other than being aware that nail polish lasts better in the fridge, it has never crossed my mind that I'd need to keep anything else cool.

Recently I've seen lots of lots of mini fridges for sale for skin care stuff. Is this completely mad or do I need one? 😄

If you have one, what do you keep in it and has it changed your life?

Ooh I'd love one but I'd need the whole setup: my personal oversized bathroom/spa room with an ante-room.
The fridge would be there (for safety reasons).
I've got all planned in my head 😂😂😂
The ante-room would have a sink and prep area for making my own masks and potions. All clean surfaces etc. Obviously a luxurious seat of some sort as well, lots of towels that I wouldn't share with anyone etc. An authentic old doctors' cupboard made of metal with peeling white paint and glass doors to keep my tools and dried herbs and oils.
Beauty fridge and all electrical tools (hairdryer and Current Body purchases basically) would be kept and used in this room.
Obviously underfloor heating, big mirrors, sound system, the lot.
By that point I might as well get a miniature custom made SubZero fridge and a live-in beautician.

So, to answer your question, the fridge would hold fresh ingredients for my home made treatments; home made masks that only keep a day or two and eye creams.

I haven't tried the nail polish in the fridge idea, so can't see myself starting now.

Back to real life, although relatively inexpensive, I cannot see that it would be practical to use. Where do you keep it?
It's not the most good looking item and I wouldn't have it anywhere in the bedroom, closet and certainly not in the bathroom. Plus, it is using extra energy.

So I use the main fridge for bits and pieces as needed. I also use the freezer for homemade toners and infusions that I freeze as ice cubes and keep in zip locked bags.
I certainly considered getting one but I can't see the practical benefits at all.

DD has one - she loves if! She keeps moisturiser and things in there. But she is 14 and clearly very influenced by TikTok 😂

Well now I have to add another room to my fantasy house! 😄

They're quite small so I do have space on my dressing table. I quite like the idea of a nice chilled serum etc.

This is it, I'm in my 40s and should be passed this stage. Which one does she have? Some have poor reviews as they leak apparently.

I'm thinking about it. 😎

No, they’re a gimmicky waste of money and electricity. If you’re worried about your products in very hot weather just put them in a Tupperware in your normal fridge. Otherwise your products contain stabilising and preservative ingredients to maintain their safety for normal storage. Store in a cool, dry, dark place (not in bathrooms or in sunlight) and they’ll be fine outside of the fridge.

snoochieboochies · 26/06/2022 13:47

No, I use the top shelf of our fridge for some creams. In the summer I put my eye pencils in there too so they are not too soft.

mirrorballer · 26/06/2022 20:15

I can't really be arsed to keep stuff in the kitchen fridge, that sounds like a faff.

But I've just bought a facial roller and I think that'll feel lovely if it's fresh from the (mini) fridge. 👍

Now I want one! I keep my eye masks and face masks in the kitchen fridge just now.

Deathraystare · 06/07/2022 19:36

I share a kitchen so of course share a fridge. I did manage to put most of my Mavala collection and some other nail polish goodies in my section though!

Don't you want all that stuff close at hand though?
I'm totally trying to talk myself into this and want to bring you all along with me. 😄

I love the idea, but 40 pounds is a third of the price of my skincare set, so I'm not sure. I keep my face mask in the kitchen fridge, but I use it once a week, so I don't mind going downstairs to grab it. Would be nice to have serums or eye cream in the mini fridge!

Deathraystare · 07/07/2022 17:39

@mirrorballer

I have to keep them in the fridge. My room gets rather warm even with the heating off. I have to keep any chocolate in the fridge and so it is the best place for my nail polish which I occasionally visit when I need to change shades.

I am also thinking of putting some eye pencils in there too as the propelling ones keep breaking off in the warmth.

Ah, my bloody benefit pencil keeps snapping. I just thought it was because I'm a clumsy twat.

I could keep it in my beauty fridge I'm totally going to buy. I don't want to go down to the kitchen every time I need a beauty product.

I'm lazy too.

@mirrorballer

I am also a clumsy twat!

I live in a shared flat so the kitchen is quite near me.

If I had my own house I would deffo have a fridge in the bedroom for beauty stuff and a few bottles of water.

Youcunnyfunt · 08/07/2022 11:46

I just keep my perfume and (art) palette in the fridge.

I have a couple of fridges so it’s no big deal. I can’t be bothered to keep my moisturisers etc in there though! I’d rather just use them.

BlueStarfish · 08/07/2022 13:50

I don't even have space for one and I had no idea they were a thing now. I didn't know it was better to keep nail polish in the fridge! Though I've put my hands in the freezer to get it to dry faster, don't know if it worked as it was intendend, just made me hungry really.

Mercurial123 · 08/07/2022 14:25

It's just something you think you need and you really don't. For me the novelty would soon wear off and it would be donated under crap I really didn't need.

reallyworriedjobhunter · 08/07/2022 14:30

They are totally unnecessary and a waste of resources and energy.

BlueStarfish · 08/07/2022 14:36

Shoot, I just got home from a week away and all this talk of fridges has made me realise I've left my makeup in the boot so it will have melted by now! A car fridge would be more useful to me, one from the ads with Ferrero Rocher inside preferably.

linenalltheway · 08/07/2022 14:55

Yep it's next to my pillowcase fridge
Can you imagine how nice that would be, nice cool pillows in a heatwave

In my mind I would love to be organised enough for a skincare fridge. In reality I slap on whatever I've reached for first ,I've even been known to grab body lotion and put that on and realise 🤣 .

Loses an hour on Pinterest admiring Beauty Fridge organisation....
