Any Alt/goth/emo mums about? Especially 35+

I'm not sure if there's many on mumsnet but thought I would ask.

Have been alt since childhood and lost myself for a while in motherhood.

I've lost weight and started to wear what I want again but am over 35 now so sometimes feel like I'm too old or I need to tone it down. I don't know, like people look at me and think I'm having a midlife crisis 😂

But then I think, I don't care! I'm happy.

Life’s short! Wear what you enjoy and brings you joy. Well done on the weight loss OP!

Me! Like you I lost my style a bit when my children were small but now I am making up for lost time. I sometimes worry that people think I am dressing too young, but I also think life is short and dressing how I want makes me happy. I feel like me again! I'm older than you (47 😮) and in the last few years I have embraced my style more, wear the clothes and shoes I want, got several tattoos, pierced my nose and followed My Chemical Romance around for a few of their European dates and generally having the time off my life. Dress how you want and be happy!!

Trust me, 35 is not old! I think society is far more accepting of alternative dressing now, especially when compared to when Goth first came on the scene. I was Goth /Punk from 1984 to late 80s and the general public were not ready for it at all! It's very different now. I have fond memories of so many great gigs...The Banshees, The Cult, The Damned etc etc

I'm in my 50s, dress in a surfy / straight look generally, still have piercings, and I'm going to see Bauhaus in August for old times sake.

Be who you want to be, the world would be a very boring place otherwise 🙂
