DM's size up or down?

I'm a size 42.5. I've a pair of DM shoes in a size 43 which are ever so slightly too large to be perfectly comfortable. Does this mean I need a 42 or I need a size they don't make? Is it better to have too large or too small?

You need to try them on. I'm a 5 in most DMs but a few I'm a 6, 5 were way too small (I own around 20 pairs)

Matt or patent, which will I wear most? And I'm hoping you'll tell me they are waterproof and warm in winter and not too hot the rest of the year

The patent ones are said to be a bugger to break in.

I'm a half size in DMs and unless I bought unisex, would size up.
I got rid of my DMs and now wear similar ones from Solovair, which are better quality and do half-sizes.

I'm a 2.5 and wear a 3 in dms, they always seem comfortable but I haven't worn DM shoes since I was a child (do want a pair though) and only wear the boots so fit may be different

I'm a size 6 in everything and the same in docs. I read loads of reviews to size down so I got a 5 in the 8 eye leather boots and my feet went numb trying to stretch them out at home. I've since bought a 6 and they are perfect. I like to wear wlth thick socks anyway so you could do that.

The patent DMs are assholes to wear in. Go for matt and round down a size.

Solovair and Reiker make similar boots and I think they do half sizes... I think...

Decisions decisions!

I'm a 41 so often wear an 8 but I got a 7 in DMs as my feet are pretty narrow. I could do with them being a teeny bit longer but my toes don't rub as the leather is so soft. I did get a couple of blisters on my heel when I first got them but nothing horrific. They are the best boots I've ever owned. I absolutely love them.
