I have a £200 budget to spend on clothes and need ideas. Basically I've worn a work uniform for several years and not really had anything else, then went on maternity leave and bought some maternity clothes, which I am still in, and are massive on me (dc now 6 months). I need a few bits just for going out in the daytime with him but am so out of touch with clothes these days. In my mind I'm thinking maybe for that I can get couple of cropped trousers, couple of white tops, some ballet flats and a trench. Need advice/inspiration pls Smile

White tops with a 6 months old baby? Very brave!
it really depends on what your body shape is and what body parts you prefer to show or hide. Look out for sales and spend the most on shoes followed by the outerwear.

Try to get waterproof or leather footwear. Suede is a nightmare to keep clean.

That's a very good point re the white tops actually, maybe I'll rethink! I'm very tall and slim ish but still have post natal mum tum. Thanks I'll check out sales.

I've found h&m great this year, they've been my go to.

TheFlis12345 · 23/06/2022 13:38

M&S is good for basics like T shirts and they do trousers in different lengths which is good for us tall folks! I also rate their jeans, the Sienna’s fit really well and start at around £20. Primark also do good basics like Ts and vests.

Thanks @anon2022anon and @TheFlis12345

I do like the siennas, great starting point.

I bought an half circle mid calf leather skirt when I had small kids. It was amazing. Looked reasonably smart but all the snot/ vom/ dribble/ sticky fingers/ food just wiped off.

You can pick up a second hand one on eBay for about £60 if you have a bit of time to invest.

Thanks, I've gone for a single outfit in the end, just jeans, top, flats, bag and trench, but neutral basics I can add to. Still have a little bit left so I will check out eBay. Thank you to all for your input.
