Comfortable shoes

Hi

I was hoping somebody would be able to help. I'm looking for a pair of shoes in a size 9 wide fit that I can wear when I'm commuting to work. I’m walking a lot more than I usually do and wearing Dr Martens but they are a bit too roomy and my feet are in agony. I think I need something a bit more supportive.

I've been looking at sketchers but there are too many options. Can anyone recommend something for me to wear? They can be casual if necessary. I want to start walking a lot more for health reasons (T2 diabetes) but my feet and my back hurt so much when I do. I think decent shoes would go a long way

Thanks in advance!

Skechers are often mentioned on here for being comfortable.

Ecco shoes are really comfortable, with good arch support and said to be good for wide feet. I can’t really comment on that last point as my feet are a weird shape, but not particularly wide. I can definitely confirm they’re comfortable though and they last a long time too.

If you’re just looking for something for walks, the Ecco Offroad is amazing. I’m sad every autumn when it gets too cold to wear them 😄

I bought these from JL and they are sooooo comfy like walking on pillows.

Read about barefoot/minimalist shoes. Most people don't need "support", we need foot-shaped shoes that let our feet do what they were designed to do.

This book is a good starting point or there are lots of online resources too. www.amazon.co.uk/Whole-Body-Barefoot-Katy-Bowman/dp/0989653986

I wear Skechers ArchFit all the time now - they have built in arch support so they help keep everything aligned while you walk and I dont suffer heel pain or back ache anymore.

I have these ones, simple slip on but all the Skechers I've tried are comfy.

Sorry, just seen they haven't got size 9 at the moment.

I like hotter shoes

I've found Skechers very comfortable but not great support.

My Timberland boots are much comfier than my DMs. I have very wide feet too.

will you change your shoes when you get to work?

haveva look at New Balance trainers, they do a lot of styles up to a woman’s 9 (I am a 9 too) and a wide fit eg Balance Women's 624v5 Cross Trainer amzn.eu/d/8jMWrmh New Balance 624
