Eek! It's all gone wrong!

So I'm going to a wedding at the weekend and decided I'd dye a white shirt dress to red. I've bought navy and cream accessories and am just about to have red nail gels done.

Thankfully I had two of these shirt dresses (one is now old and tatty and has holes in it) so I did a trial run with Dylon's Tulip Red washer dye. It came out perfectly so I bought another tub of the same tulip red for the newer much nicer dress and it's come out as shocking pink! It might not show up very well in the photos but it's definitely not bright, pillar box red!

I have red nails, red lipstick and red accessories (with navy and cream), is there anything I can do to get this shirt to RED? And in time before I leave on Thursday?

Gah!

Red and pink will look fab together! I’d stick with it.

Which of your accessories are navy?

My jacket and my necklace...but interesting picture! I honestly thought red lipstick and nails would clash with hot pink. Hhmmm!

I'd be inclined to run it through with a second tub of dylon.

If all else fails, I agree, you can make the clashing colours look deliberate.

Red and hot pink a really cool combination, sure you will look amazing!

ferretface · 21/06/2022 18:39

Red and shocking pink is a really cool combination, I wouldn't worry!

toastfiend · 21/06/2022 18:39

I love the pink - it's a fab colour!

I'd be inclined to stick with the pink and keep the red accessories with it. Red and pink look great together and it'll look a bit more modern/fresher for summer than all red.

hihellohihello · 21/06/2022 18:39

I'd just paint a pink nail varnish on top of the red nails and wear a pink toned lipstick. Navy accessories will still go.

Newestname002 · 21/06/2022 19:01

Actually I love the hot pink. Much more interesting than pure red - though I like that too. The navy accessories will go well with the little blue in the hot pink and, as a PP said, clashing red lipstick and nails will look really good. Better than matchy-matchy. 🌹

Look, red & hot pink look amazing together.

Its a great colour and yes pink and red a a fab combination x

ItWillBeOkHonestly · 21/06/2022 19:51

In my head I LOVE the pink and red combo but this is quite a conservative (with a lower case c) posh wedding and am a bit worried I'll come across as a bit 'Pretty Woman'. Probably over-thinking it but yeah, can't shake it!

It’ll be gorgeous, don’t worry 😊

Oceanus · 21/06/2022 20:07

Personally I love the colour of the dress. That's a gorgeous pink! I think it would look great with red nails but if you don't see that working, instead of trying to change the dress, why not change the nails and the lipstick? That would be much much easier. Nude or light pink nails and the same for the lipstick (I for one would feel tempted to stick to the red lipstick). I would keep the accessories too.

Love the dress - where’s it from?

H&M! They've had them all spring summer in white, black and army green. I bought a white one in the spring but it was too small and I ended up using to sleep in. I suddenly realised that I liked the shape and if I bought the next size up and dyed it up, it might be the perfect dress!

I finally got it red!! Went to Hobbycraft and bought another dye but this time got the basin version rather than the washer version. Let it soak for an hour and hey presto! It's currently just drying out in the garden. I'm pleased! Thank you all for your advice.
