Networking event - what to wear?

I usually work from home, have done for years. Am a freelance consultant and did go to client offices occasionally a few years back, when I would generally wear a suit, or tailored dress and jacket in order to look the part. I have started working with a new agency and they want to meet us all in person and I have no idea what to wear! I think a suit is too much (& none of mine fit/are up to date) but a midi and trainers is too casual? It's an evening thing. Help?!

I'd go for a jacket but then dress down a little with some more casual-style footwear.
I'd personally go for white pumps or similar but the type that don't look too 'trainer-y' if you know what I mean. No Nike Air 90s.

I absolutely love a good jumpsuit and smart ones for work occasions make a real impact - something a bit different but understated enough to not look showy. They're so flattering for so many figures.

They just are. Weird. Toddler's clothes. I've never seen any I've liked or were flattering.
