Your comfiest sandals/flip flops?

Florencenotflo · 20/06/2022 21:57

I need new flat sandals for summer. My old faithfuls have given up the ghost and I can't even remember where I got them from. So I need some new ones.

I'd like something that can go with jeans or dresses but they must be comfy! I'm going to London with my Mum in a couple of weeks, ideally I need to get something this week so I can wear them in a bit before we go!

Budget of around £50 ish. Can anyone recommend some because I don't even know where to start!

I have Birkenstocks which are nice. I've also just got a pair from Blowfish which are super comfortable.

My crocs flip flops are the comfiest things I’ve ever worn. I wear them all summer with no issues and can walk miles in them.

Ditto I have three pairs in different colours

cheapskatemum · 20/06/2022 22:55

Any FitFlops I've had have been so comfortable. As PPs have said, they typically cost more than £50, but if you're not too fussy about style &/or colour, you should find a pair in the sale within your budget. They last years, so are good value for money.

Sandals are the most impossible footwear to find that I like. Everything I see, my 70 year old DM would wear!

And what's wrong with that?

OP take a look at Clarks they have some Birkenstock type sandals and they're super comfy, nice colours too. I can't wear proper Birkies for anything apart from pottering around in as they're so hard but these are like slippers.

Thatboymum · 20/06/2022 22:58

Look on a site called Kuddly and you’ll see ones that look like the Yeezys but there memory foam so mould to your feet , mega comfy light weight wide ( with gals for bunions if you have them) don’t slide off your feet and are honestly comfiest shoe I ever owned. I tried primark and boohoo version and there rubbish

Notnastypasty · 20/06/2022 22:59

Crocs but also Archie’s. Really good for problematic feet!

MzHz · 20/06/2022 23:00

Archie’s flip flops are hands down (or should that be feet?) the best flip flops ever!
I live in mine, bought my oh some and he loves them

im considering buying more colours

PedalPedal · 20/06/2022 23:00

Birkenstocks or Blow-fish

ZenNudist · 20/06/2022 23:02

I like reiker sandals for comfort and pretty. May also appeal to my mum!!

NessieMcNessface · 20/06/2022 23:02

I changed into Birkenstocks when the weather got warmer a couple of months ago and haven’t really changed out of them except for sleeping. After trying several styles over the years I like the Mayari Cross Strap Sandals best. They are seriously the most comfortable sandals I have ever worn and I can walk for miles in them without discomfort. The vegan leather is brilliant; unbelievably strong and hardwearing. Also when I look down at my feet, I just think they look good! I don’t have great feet but in Birkenstocks, they always seem to look OK.

Xmasbaby11 · 20/06/2022 23:03

I have plantar fasciitis and Birkenstocks are incredibly uncomfortable for me. As soon as I tried them on I couldn't get them off my feet fast enough.

Fitflops are good - if wide enough for my difficult feet - and Skechers.

stickybear · 21/06/2022 05:05

I'd be wary of Birkenstocks if you're not going to have much time to wear them in before your London trip, OP. I'm currently on hols and had to go and buy new Havianas yesterday as my Birkenstock Madrids have destroyed my feet after a week of lots of walking. They were new at the end of last summer and I hadn't worn them much before coming away. My heels have cracked which has never happened to be before and is SO painful! I've previously had the Mayari style Birks which I found really comfortable so maybe the Madrid style just isn't for me. Wish I hadn't had to find out the hard way though!

stickybear · 21/06/2022 05:07

Oh and to answer your question I find the
Havianas Luna style to be really comfortable, but poss more casual than you're looking for

RockinHorseShit · 21/06/2022 05:36

Crocs flip flops are the comfiest I've ever had & I've had several pairs over the years. Current favourites are a slightly platformed sparkly pair of flip flops. Light as air & felt like walking on clouds from the first day I wore them. They last really well too, I've a favourite pair I used for travelling & they were walked to death & lasted 14 years

Florencenotflo · 21/06/2022 05:46

Wow lots to look through today, thanks for all the suggestions!

@stickybear I was worried about not having time to break them in. I will go into town and have a look this weekend rather than buying online I think.

Another Birkenstock fan here. I’ve worn them for years and have never had discomfort with any of the styles I’ve had. I would say that I did find that the Arizona style was wider than some.

sazzt · 21/06/2022 06:05

Birkenstocks kill my feet. I can't get on with the shaping of the sole, rubs my arch and under my toes really badly. They're def not for everyone.

MrsTerryPratchett · 21/06/2022 06:34

Placemarking!

mcplant · 21/06/2022 06:36

I love my Birkenstocks too but I needed a more dressier sandal in an emergency the other week and picked these up from M&S and they are so comfortable & very supportive. I can easily do 20,000 steps in them and they have never rubbed.

I have the black and they go with everything.

CaptainCallisto · 21/06/2022 06:54

Another vote for Moshulu! I have never had such comfortable sandals in my life - including Birkenstocks.

sweetkitty · 21/06/2022 06:56

For cheaper fit flops try Amazon for last years ones, I have two pairs of fit flops and they are great.

GettingStuffed · 21/06/2022 11:30

If your feet are on the wider side of it you have a high instep Moshulu may not be the best . I have some and they're tight across my instep.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 21/06/2022 11:32

I don't find Moshulu comfy at all, they're narrow and hurt my feet. I've tried them a couple of times and sent them back.

SpaghettiNotCourgetti · 21/06/2022 11:35

I've just bought some mid-form Tevas (on sale on ASOS) and they are so, so comfortable. I'm in love with them. So squidgy. I do also have Mayaris (Birkenstocks), which are great but can rub in my arches at times and also have a regrettable tendency to make farty noises as I walk.
