False eyelashes, the stick on at home ones?

I’ve had years of getting the lovely false eyelashes done in the salon but since covid and getting a new full time job I don’t have two hours to go lie down and get them done!

matbe it’s seeing the girls on Love Island peeling off their falsies and I stared at them in boots for a good 30 seconds, but have no idea about them.

I’m 47 so this is about SUBTLE lashes (as I have totally thin see-through lashes, always have) not sweeping brushes

anyine got advice on the home ones?? Thanks!

I really struggle with the strip lashes but like Weekies from Eyelash Bae, basically you put a sort of mascara on then stick the lashes (small sections) under your lashes (so opposite to where the strip lashes go) and seal them with another mascara type thing. They last for about 5 days once applied. Think they are shut at the moment but I'm pretty sure other places do them. If you have tiktok there are really good videos on how to apply on their page.

Oh are the daily ones a bit of a nightmare? I don’t want to be on work calls and have my eyelash start to curl away! Just have no experience of them at all!

There are tricks to make it easier but I am just not very good at them, they have come off midway through an event a few times for me. If you get them make sure you trip them at the outer edge to fit your eye as they are all made bigger than most people would need. And make sure you let the glue dry for 30 seconds until it is tacky. I can never get close enough to the lash line to look natural but if you do it with a mirror at your chin that is meant to be better.

Oh, I've just bought some, too! I'm a bit clueless, so watching with interest.

I used some a few weeks ago when I was in fancy dress (someone else applied them for me) and was amazed at the oomph they gave me! My own lashes seem to be quite short and getting sparser.

Also, with makeup would you put eyeshadow on after the lashes or before? Can anyone advise?

I use lolas lashes, the magnetic ones (with magnetic eyeliner) They cost £20 and usually last me a month/6 weeks of wearing them daily. They have really subtle ones all the way through to brushes Grin They never fall off even in the wind and rain.

Same, I can't not wear them now, my own lashes are so short. They give me so much confidence!
I do all my makeup first and lashes at end

Thanks @CookPassBabtridge
I'll look out for those magnetic ones!

I get the 3/4 length ones as I have quite small eyes and don't want anything too dramatic. I let the glue dry a bit so it's sticky before putting them on by eye. I usually get a few wears out of each pair before I throw them.

fancyfrogs · 20/06/2022 13:34

Definitely go for 3/4 length ones or cut full length ones down if you don't want them too obvious. Always apply with tweezers not fingers, much easier! Put the glue on the lash and wait 30-60 seconds for it to go tacky before you stick them on. And have a spare little glue in every bag just in case you need to restick if out and about, but good glue you shouldn't need to. I like the clear duo glue best

I know you said you don't have time but a lash lift & tint at the salon could be an option as wouldn't take 2 hours. Last about 4-6 weeks

I might actually look into that! With the full set lashes once they start to go wonky I need to be able to go back and get them filled again and I often can’t fit it in. This might be a better option!

@ElizabethCaroline and @fancyfrogs thanks so much - I think I’ll bite the bullet and buy a 3/4 set and have a go this weekend! They all look the same to me though, they alllook WAY too long for me!

I use the Lola's lashes magnetic ones in rose quartz and they are just so easy to use and stay perfectly in place all day
