I’m in search of a decent foundation.
I have an oily chin but dry forehead so I get i have combination skin!
I’ve tried so far:
Giorgio Armani luminous silk - didn’t blend v well
Clinique Superbalanced - made my forehead dry and flaky
No7 Hydraluminous - made my skin itchy/sensitive
Estée Lauder Double wear - cakey and highlighted wrinkles round eyes
YSL touché eclat - not bad but still didn’t blend that well with sponge, brushes or fingers…

Every time I’ve been to a make up counter, I look orange!

Will I ever find the one?

What’s your absolute fave foundation?

Lancome tient idole

I think I’ll pop to boots tomorrow and ask for a sample!

Given all the brands you have tried, I would try The Ordinary Serum Foundation. The price is incredible and I love the formula. It's worth a try.

I actually did try that one - forgot to mention and it didn’t provide very good coverage.

Do you really need "good coverage?" What I mean by that is a lot of women wear far too heavy of a foundation, and it just looks bad, especially as you get older. The lighter the formula is usually better.

I'm in my 50s and my skin is now so dry that my old go-to foundations look cakey and unnatural. MAC does a lightweight body foundation that I use over moisturizer on my face but the best one ever is Chanel's Vita-lumière Aqua. It's out of my price range now but I highly recommend it!

Dior Backstage. I have combination skin and like a natural finish with light-medium coverage. The bottle has more foundation in it than most so good value. Lots of shades.

Is there a NARS counter near you?

I also like Lancome teint idole ultra wear but only really wear it if I'm going out, and I don't find the shade range great for very pale skins.

Lately in the day i'm reaching for NYX born to glow, I find my makeup looks better if I apply a lighter to medium base and then tactically apply different concealers on top where I need coverage - something with more slip and glow under the eyes and then something heavier for any blemishes.

I'd be inclined to try a primer on the chin area to mitigate the oil and use something like Eucerin 5% urea facial cream on the forehead area - it works wonders for dry skin prone to flaking and is light enough to sit well under makeup. Applying with a damp beauty blender and a stippling brush has also really helped me navigate any texture when I apply foundation and concealer.
