The Ordinary red face peel thingy

I've had this since lockdown, I'm scared to use it in case my face peels off. Will it be ok?

Yes it’s fine, just use it half the advised time the first time and use sunblock daily.

Thank you @Fluffycloudland77

It's fantastic. I have sensitive skin and also had the fear. I had no reaction. I had a little left over and put it on the back of my hand. It was noticeably brighter and smoother than my other hand.

ONO7 · 19/06/2022 17:06

That's interesting @thethoughtfox, my hands could definitely do with a bit of attention. Might try my hands before my face 😄

I put it on my face but was on constant standby to take it off when it hurt but it didn't. It's so cheap too.

Weelegs29 · 19/06/2022 17:12

I've used it regularly for 3-4 years and never had any reaction. My skin isn't overly sensitive though so if yours is just use it sparingly at first and for less than the recommended time just until your skin builds up tolerance to it. It makes an almost immediate difference to my skin i find it fantastic! Actually going to apply some now that this has reminded me...

ONO7 · 19/06/2022 17:21

Thanks for the replies. I don't have sensitive skin so hopefully my face won't peel off.

Do I just apply to clean skin and sit back for 10 minutes?

Pretty much. Don’t apply it to damp skin, give it 20 mins to dry then use it. The colours very off putting.

I was also scared. My fears were not realised - absolutely nothing happened. I even tried applying it more thickly and leaving it on a little longer. Nada. I do use a lot of their products, so this isn't a dig at TO.

ChipsRoastOrBoiled · 19/06/2022 18:43

I give my husband a fright every time I use it! I find it a little bit tingly over my nose but fine otherwise. And I set a timer on my phone so I don't forget, or get distracted, as I don't want to leave it on longer than instructed.

CheeseComa · 19/06/2022 19:28

Another fan here. I have fairly sensitive skin (had a terrible rash from a similiar product from Paula's Choice a few years ago) but have never had any reaction, even though I often forget the time and leave it on longer than you're meant to. It can tingle a bit, but skin looks great afterwards. Like a previous poster I've also tried it on the back of my hands and even there it makes a noticable difference.

ONO7 · 19/06/2022 19:32

Well I was all set to give it a go when my son text go say his friend was popping round to pick up some festival tickets. I don't want to frighten the poor lad so I will be trying it out tomorrow evening.

I've just used this product after reading this thread the other day. It's fab!

I have roseacia around my nose and just overall dull looking skin. I must admit the dark red colour did put me off a bit and I didn't realise that I had a sore nostril from my cold that made it sting a bit but it was super easy to use.

Immediately I have brighter looking skin, calmer red patches (not gone but I would say the average passer by would not know I had it now).

I did feel a bit flushed after but thats probably all the washing and patting. I've popped a good amount of face cream with SPF on afterwards. Feels really soft!

It felt like acid burning my face within about 5 seconds of putting it on, I couldn’t get it off fast enough - I wouldn’t say I have especially sensitive skin either.
