Belly and clothes!

I have once again failed in losing three stone through doing nothing at all and I am yet again somehow surprised that it's hot and I have nothing to wear 🤦🏻‍♀️
I'm 5"7 and about 14.5 stone (I have actually started changing my eating habits now and obviously it's coming straight off of my boobs Angry)
But anyway, I carry almost all of my noticeable weight on my stomach/ belly. I think my shape is inherited from my father
I have been congratulated on being pregnant more than once Confused
I simply don't know what I can wear that will disguise it a bit, I put a short skirt on last night and my legs looked pretty good but when I turned sideways I looked like I was on the way to give birth
Please can I have advice on dresses or tops or anything?

Sympathies! I am having a similar problem but I'm a shortarse 😢 at the moment I'm wearing square tops with statement necklaces to distract...

Do you have the time and money to go to a personal shopper at John Lewis?

Empire line or smocks over leggings?

Sux2buthen · 19/06/2022 09:51

I have no time, money or transport 🤣🤣
Yes i think I need some cut off leggings/ jeans and long flowy tops/ dresses or something.
I'm cursing greedy winter meBlush
To be fair I've had a rough few years and i haven't been myself but now I want to fix it!

Don't beat yourself up, look forward not back! My problem is partly due to an enormous uterine fibroid and the rest is greed. I'm on the (loooong) waiting list for a hysterectomy but in the meantime I just have to accept that my belly will stick out a lot more than usual and I can't wear 3/4 of my clothes.

Following.., I’m exactly the same. I need tops but they either cling or make me look 9 months pregnant.

Any and all advice is welcome!

One of my male friends is having an enormous amount of success with fasting, literally is only allowing himself to eat for an hour a day hopefully he’s not stuffing his face with 4000 calories during the hour but I think the idea is is that your appetite in your stomach shrinks. He’s posting a lot of black tea fruit teas etc during the day and drinking a lot of water I guess to just keep that feeling of being full but yeah he’s dropped what would be the female equivalent of about three dress sizes in a month.

obviously it’s not sustainable in the long time but I always find it easier to keep weight off than it is to sensibly get rid of it bit by bit

I fast for health: 16:8 or 18:6 daily with a longer 84 hour fast once a month. It’s absolutely possible to do this long term.

23:1 sounds pretty insane though.

Boring advice, but a really good bra might help.

Also, maybe some heels. Not big monsters you can't walk in, but something with a teeny bit of height can make a big difference I think.

Good luck with the weight loss. I need to do the same!

I can sympathise, I have diactis rectis. I am also 5ft 7, a slim cyclist and about a size ten before I gave birth 12 years ago. My stomach was so tight but tore with such a big bump. I look permanently pregnant. Without an operation there is nothing I can do. I have also been struggling with hypothyroidism. I have found my fitness pal app really helpful and have lost a stone. I just tend to wear a plain black loose fitting t shirt (H&M) and jeans or leggings. I find for cut off sleeve tops the white stuff have nice tops that don't cling to your belly x

Eesha · 20/06/2022 06:45

Cos dresses?

Jean shorts with a kimono jacket over a strappy top? Duster coats?
I have H&M sports leggings (ribbed ones) which are so tight and comfortable and hold my belly in, then I wear a cami plus a denim jacket with the sleeves rolled up

"I have actually started changing my eating habits now and obviously it's coming straight off of my boobs 😡)", this made me laugh op! I'm in a similar position, also with boob loss. I've worked on this since December and have only shifted 12 pounds. I'm greatful, and maintaining, but 12 lbs? Ffs.

This is what I've tried. I exercised like mad (mad for me is this: i was a sloth, then i added in cycling 10 miles a day on an exercise bike and walking 3 to 5 miles a day on a treadmill and dog walks). I lost nothing. Felt great, but nothing. Then ihurt myself so had to stop exercising. Started the 16:8. This alone has been the most fabulous thing. It is now a part of my lifestyle. You can ease your way into in by by doing a 12:12, 13:11, 14: 10, 15:9, etc.) It taught me to stop snacking and reduced my appetite. About a week into this i started calorie counting. Dropped the 12. Went on holiday. Managed to not gain it back. Its been a battle ever since to achieve further loss.

I bought some saxenda pens and i use it sparingly. I'd hoped to have lost 2 st by now, i now hope for it to drop off over the rest of the year. And then this period of maintenance will strange me in good stead as that will be the long term behaviour i need to embody.

Good luck op!

Sux2buthen · 06/07/2022 17:02

I forgot I posted thisGrin
So far by cutting out toast and butter I've lost about 6 pounds. I know my terrible habits and I've cut down/ reduced them.
And yes my bra is more roomy dammit but I've lost a lot of carby puffiness. I haven't done much else but my bloated ness is calming, I'm more 5 months gone than 8 to look at Grin
I will read the replies properly because I am spurred on to keep going
