Budget friendly moisturiser for dry skin

Please give me your recommendations. I've tried the Nivea blue pot, not a fan of the texture of scent. Something with a creamy smooth texture ideally and minimal (if any) scent.

My skin looks nice straight after I moisturise but it soon soaks it up and I have dryness which is making my pores and fine lines look so much worse!

Thanks!

Cerave - big one in a pump bottle.

My skin's never been better

embolass · 18/06/2022 21:28

Aldi face creams are excellent. Few to try but they are so cheap can splurge out on a few. The dupe of Nivea Q 10 day and night creams are under £2 and the dupes of La Prarie are £6.99. Really lovely

I've tried CeraVe and it irritated my skin unfortunately. I had hoped it would be the one!

Will be in Aldi on Monday so I'll have a look! Wasn't expecting that as an answer!

Weleda skin food at night, it's very thick and super moisturising. Also, try a skin oil, revolution do some good ones for about £10.

Inthesameboatatmo · 18/06/2022 21:31

Boots botanics is very good .

dolphinsarentcommon · 18/06/2022 21:31

I'd second Aldi for face creams.

I like Nivea soft a lot (although may be too scented for you but I use it everywhere at times).

For body lotion Aveeno is good had doesn't smell too much.

pinksquash13 · 18/06/2022 21:31

I like Superdrug vitamin e cream in the pot

wtfisgoingonhere21 · 18/06/2022 21:32

I've used the Aldi dupe ones for years.

Absolutely brilliant

I use the day and night ones and the serum.

Also use their cleanser and rose oil for my very dry peri menopause skin

minuette1 · 18/06/2022 21:33

What's your budget OP? I really rate Face Theory products, which are around £10-15 per pot, which are great value if you are comparing them to high end brands - what's your baseline for budget? Is the Nivea type price the highest you want to go? If so I also recommend Aldi's Lacura range, especially the rose face oil.

springingup · 18/06/2022 21:35

£10-£15 is fine really! Will have a look at face theory. And probs pick up a couple in Aldi next week too! Very useful thread so far :)

I just checked their website and they have a sale on now too :)

I recommend getting a hyaluronic acid serum-The Ordinary hyaluronic acid 2% one is around £6 and lasts for ages. You use it before moisturiser and it enhances the effectiveness of the moisturiser. For me, using hyaluronic acid + whatever cheap moisturiser I like the feel of has been way more effective than any expensive moisturiser on its own!

Floydthebarber · 18/06/2022 21:45

Cetaphil face moisturisers. I prefer them to Cerave. Very moisturizing but not greasy so I can use it in the day too.

If you are thinking budget for summer though, look at the Nivea or Ambre Solaire face sun lotions. A proper spf but with the formula of a face moisturiser.

allboysherebutme · 18/06/2022 22:07

Nivea. X

3beesinmybonnet · 18/06/2022 22:14

Your skin sounds like mine and I've just used E45 for years. It's about £12 for a massive tub but it's often on offer. Smaller tubs are available.

Brava · 18/06/2022 22:22

Cerave. I have sensitive skin & have been referred for allergy tests for this. They advised Cerave - I’ve had lots of compliments on my skin since I’ve been using Cerave - definitely worth a try! (I use the big bottle - for my face & body)

Rahrahrahrahannoyed · 18/06/2022 22:39

Moo Goo full cream moisturiser. I use it for only my face and it's very gentle and good. It's about £12 for a big tube that can easily last 4 months if used on fave alone like me

PMAmostofthetime · 18/06/2022 22:43

I use simple hydrating light moisturiser- it's sensitive and around £2 lasts me ages. Hydrates skin but is gentle and not too thick.

Nivea Soft

SiliconHeaven · 19/06/2022 01:14

#6 from Poundland, it’s very good

I second the Superdrug Vitamin E range. My skin is v dry so I tend to use the intensive moisturising one rather than the day cream.

Sarah68tinker · 19/06/2022 01:36

Nivea soft is amazing. Its even got rid of an annoying age spot i had. also its great under makeup

Salutina · 19/06/2022 02:03

OP are you using a non-drying face wash/cleanser? Just checking as if you over-cleanse your face it increases dryness and makes the moisturising job much harder. So sometimes the cleanser is the issue rather than the moisturiser not being good enough iyswim.

If you wash your face and then leave it to dry (without moisturising) does it feel really tight/dry? If so I'd suggest trying a more gentle and moisturising cleanser. Or if you exfoliate regularly, stop that for a while and see what happens. Either or both of those changes might make all the difference.
