Budget friendly moisturiser for dry skin

springingup · 18/06/2022 21:24

Please give me your recommendations. I've tried the Nivea blue pot, not a fan of the texture of scent. Something with a creamy smooth texture ideally and minimal (if any) scent.

My skin looks nice straight after I moisturise but it soon soaks it up and I have dryness which is making my pores and fine lines look so much worse!

Thanks!

Aldi or Cetaphil, my dry skin is sensitive and these are both great. Just finished an Augustinus Bader at over £200 and I actually prefer these two budget options.

Aldi caviar day and night creams. They're the dupe for La Prairie and apparently one ingredient different (presumably the very expensive one). Unbelievable value for the ingredients. Makes my skin glow. But they're thick so not so good For when it's super hot. Depends on your skin. I'm keen to try Embryolisse concentrated milk cream - lots of rave reviews.

stepfordwifey · 19/06/2022 04:09

I use E45 cream because there is no fragrance to it. Very moisturising and sinks in well.
Cleansing with Simple lotion also provides some moisture and again no fragrance.
I've finally tracked down the Aldi rose oil which is good too.

I ran out of my fancy face cream and couldn't afford another bottle. Started using the big pump bottle of Aveeno in the bathroom. My skin has never been better! Have used it every morning for almost a year now. Will never go back to fancy face cream.

StrawberryPot · 19/06/2022 04:31

I use simple hydrating light moisturiser- it's sensitive and around £2 lasts me ages. Hydrates skin but is gentle and not too thick.

Same here. I bought some new face creams and serum from M&S recently. Not cheap! I'm not sure which one it was but my skin became very red and dry.

I decided to try something basic like Nivea but googled first and it's not cruelty free. Picked up a £2 bottle of Simple moisturiser and my skin has settled back down.

BioOil at night

scrivette · 19/06/2022 06:23

Nivea Soft isn't as thick as blue Nivea and works for my dry skin.

UncomfortableSilence · 19/06/2022 06:48

I'm currently using the Aldi rejuvenate face cream and I love it. The texture is beautiful, my skin has become very dry over the last few years and I used to use the serum but it doesn't quite cut it now. I can never get the caviar cream but that's also gorgeous.

I agree with the above poster too, apply a hyaluronic acid on damp skin before your moisturiser, my skin is so soft and smooth. Try The Ordinary or Inkey List both under £10.

Matchingcollarandcuffs · 19/06/2022 06:53

I also react to Cerave (and Nivea Soft and Aldi Lacura) but am a big fan of both the Aldi Drunk Elephant dupe (it’s in a white pot with a green pump lid) which is lighter or for maximum moisture the Cetaphil rich night cream in a tube, it was cheap on Amazon.

It’s rich but sinks in, I find that E45 and Nivea make my skin greasy and dry at the same time

springingup · 19/06/2022 06:55

Thanks everyone. I use a hydrating face wash and I'm not using any acids or anything at the moment as they just make me red.

Think I'm going to give the Aldi creams a go first and see how they go!

The Aldi caviar range. They tend to sell out at my local branch so I buy a couple at a time.

goldfinchonthelawn · 19/06/2022 07:10

Nivea q10 is gorgeous. Not greasy or sticky or heavy like the blue nivea. Doesn't smell like nivea either. Really supple, elastic effect on skin.

Charley50 · 19/06/2022 07:46

I use Aveeno, it's excellent for sensitive, dry skin.
I've got a Lidl high factor sun protection for face, for the daytime.

houseargh · 19/06/2022 07:53

Just the Simple Rich Moisturising one, especially if you sometimes get sensitive to ingredients. I used that morning and night for ages, and sometimes used Epaderm instead as a night cream - my skin was very happy

mrssmiling · 19/06/2022 07:58

Another vote for Aldi - it’s worth trying a few creams if you are trying the range for the first time, but the Caviar and Rejuvelate ones work for me. I think they have improved availability in store, but you can also buy a lot of products online. www.aldi.co.uk/c/specialbuys/health-and-beauty
Aldi are known for inexpensive dupes of higher priced brands, so it’s worth keeping an eye out - check website and stores. The dupes tend to be available a few times a year, so people stock up. They had a good Kiehl’s dupe a few months ago, and the cleansing balm is great for dry skin - a dupe for Emma Hardie.
This is an excellent mask for dry skin - not expensive and a treat to use - a Beauty Bible award winner.

What's your budget OP? I really rate Face Theory products, which are around £10-15 per pot, which are great value if you are comparing them to high end brands - what's your baseline for budget? Is the Nivea type price the highest you want to go? If so I also recommend Aldi's Lacura range, especially the rose face oil.

Also just to add Face Theory is on Topcashback.dom so you get a lovely 13% cash back on top of the sale if you go via topcashback. (Sorry am a big fan of the site as we get all our insurances, most shopping etc through it and the cash back piles up nicely!)

anyway just to add a vote to Face theory moisturisers and night creams. They also do stuff specifically for keratosis pilaris

springingup · 19/06/2022 08:02

@mrssmiling thanks for the link, that mask looks really lovely!

My Aldi is one if the bigger ones so hopefully they'll have something in there 😁

Aqueous cream from the chemist.

seaUrchinOne · 19/06/2022 08:09

Not a fan of the Aldi caviar cream, it's very perfumed if you don't like scent, it's thick but dries quickly, doesn't plump skin for long like other moisturisers.

My favourite hydrating budget moisturiser is a boots vitamin c brightening cream, it has a gel cream texture like Clinique moisture surge, hydration lasts. £4, scent of oranges but not too strong.

Swonderful · 19/06/2022 18:04

La roche posay cream toleriane cleanser and body shop aloe night cream are my holy grail products for dry skin.

doadeer · 19/06/2022 21:31

Most cheap and cheerful would be nivea with a layer of vaseline over it. Makes me skin glow.

My preferred moisturiser is La Roche Posay but that's slightly more than your budget.

Highly recommend this

IrisVersicolor · 19/06/2022 22:14

Nivea is very greasy I use Jason Vitamin E cream comes in 5000 IU and 10000 IU. £7.99 it’s very affordable.

IrisVersicolor · 19/06/2022 22:17

Also I don’t wash my face as it dries it out. I use cleanser and rose water (no alcohol) as a toner.

Weleda skin food is excellent when it’s super dry and I extra Virgin olive oil - that remoisturises quickly.
