Please help me choose a watch (pics included).

I have a birthday coming up, and DH is going to buy me an expensive watch. I would love an Omega Manhattan Constellation, but the one I like is nearly £5k and just too expensive. I have narrowed it down to two choices, completely and utterly different and around the same price.

The first is a newly released Tag Aquaracer Professional 200 with a beautiful blue/teal iridescent face and diamond dot. The second is a classic entry level Cartier Tank.

I want it to be durable and tough enough to wear every day but still elegant enough to be worn in the evening. I know the Tank is the obvious choice as it is a classic, but I just wondered if it’s a bit ubiquitous and not as unique and fun as the Tag. What do you think?

The tag looks quite casual and young to me.

Of those two definately the tank.

The Tag is a daytime casual watch and whilst lovely is not elegant or for an evening/occasion.

I got an aquaracer for my 40th and I love it. I wished I got the emerald limited edition mine is just black but the blue is beautiful too!

Agreed! The Tag is quite fun but definitely a daytime-only watch. The Tank can be worn both day and night (also a classic)

I don't think move in the same circles because I don't think anyone would notice if I had a tag not a Cartier on an evening out .

I like them both, but would choose the Tank because I love square and rectangular faces.

I have this one, @WilsonMilson, as I think it's the best of both worlds. It's a tough, everyday watch (I wear it literally everywhere) but the diamonds are really sparkly and make it glam for special occasions too. It's the older model so cheaper than the current diamond one.

The Tag whilst nice isn't something I can imagine cherishing for years to come.

I have a very similar Tag, and a Tank.

My Tag has a mother of Pearl face, and tbh I wear it pretty much all the time - every day, and mostly when I go out. It looks plenty smart enough for going out!

The tank comes out for "posh" nights/days out (which are very few & far between...) I should really wear it a lot more often than I do, though.

I also chose between a Tank and a Tag for my 30th birthday gift - I went for a special edition Tag in the end, have worn it mostly every day since and never regretted it. I figured the Tag would go more with my overall day-to-day look (V casual!) and I'd rather a nicer Tag than an entry level Cartier. However - both absolutely beautiful watches and either will look fab! A nice predicament to be in 🙂

Prefer the second one of the two for both day and night. They're both nice though!

I definitely wouldn’t get a blue face if you want to wear it in the evenings.

If you want something to can wear dressier, the choice is the Tank.

I like the tag, much more interesting and modern. And you can def wear the tag to evening stuff, the tank looks boring and not very creative in comparison even as an evening/ dressy watch

Definitely the Tag. It’s much more interesting, especially with the blue face.

The Cartier is too fussy (for me).

I can't imagine just wearing a normal watch though now, let alone spending a lot of money on kne that doesn't do a million other things. Oh how times have changed. V
