I read Sali Hughes review of this today and I’m wondering if anyone here has used the product. It sounds fab, but I’m not down with spending that amount if it’s no good for me.

I currently use Clinique Even Better Glow which I love but sometimes I feel it’s a tiny bit too heavy. I’m late 40s and I need coverage but not caked on.

Anyone tried the Hermès product?

No-one?

Not bought it but if you add a dot or two of Mac strobe cream to your usual foundation you will have a beautiful glow foundation.

You can use other liquid highlighters instead of Mac.

L'Oréal make a lovely one.

I am watching with interest as also read the column and was thinking about buying it. Then noticed that the colours that would probably match my skin were missing 🙄. Generally, I always have an issue with finding matching shades - get them too light when matched in shops- not that there are many shops left standing now! Or veer in the opposite direction and end up looking too orange... End up mixing different foundations producing my own Frankenstein version. What do you all cool people do? Hope I didn't veer off the topic too much, OP 😊.

She's an influencer so I'm wary. I'm amazed she's still got the Guardian column her writing is awful.

PAFMO · 19/06/2022 16:10

I saw Sali's review as well, it sounds fab but no, I'm not going to fork out for that!
I follow SH and note that she very much likes lighter, glowier products (her face often looks quite shiny on her Instagram) so tbh, I don't think that would be for me as I want a bit of coverage.

Ivgotasecretcanyoukeepit · 19/06/2022 16:17

I read another review on Really Ree and she wasn’t very complimentary. Her view was the foundation had no staying power or coverage and looked as if she was wearing an spf. It’s on my list to buy for holidays but I wouldn’t wear it here.

have you tried Charlotte Tilburys Beautiful Skin foundation? It gives nice glory coverage without being cakey.

catfunk · 19/06/2022 18:04

Sali looks like she has loads of Botox these days so I would be wary of skincare recommendations for anything anti - ageing

catfunk · 19/06/2022 18:06

Op, origins vitazing is very good for light very coverage and contains spf - tinted moisturiser not a foundation

CousinGregg · 19/06/2022 18:15

Her column is just advertising now. I wouldn't bother believing any of it.

MagicMatilda · 19/06/2022 19:07

I haven’t tried this as was worried I would fall in love and obviously it’s a pricey one but the other Hermes beauty bits I’ve tried have been top notch! Very impressed.

That’s interesting, thanks for that. I did look around for some reviews and read one which said something similar. It’s quite a bit more than I would normally consider spending so it’s good to hear some views!

She is a renowned walking advertisement, so be very wary of any recommendation from her.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 19/06/2022 20:00

In terms of advertising I don’t think she would benefit from the affiliate links in the Guardian, she’d be paid a fee for the column. I wouldn’t believe anything she says on social media though.

Here's an unbiased review

Final verdict: If you love Hermès, this is much less (and easier to get!) than a Birkin! It is a perfectly pleasant foundation/tinted moisturizer/spot concealer/sunscreen and one that I have enjoyed using mainly for the fact that I know I paid a luxury price for it! Is this the best foundation I have used? Certainly not, but it stayed on the whole day with and without setting powder. Was it worth $115? Not really, but personally I don't regret buying it as it represented a makeup splurge I hadn't done in a long time. I wouldn't repurchase this though.

missmoon · 20/06/2022 08:02

A friend recommended it so I’m trying it at the moment (have had it for less than a week). There are very few shades and it’s more of a tinted moisturiser than a foundation. I went for the closest shade (light with rosy undertones). The consistency is lovely and it goes on easily with fingers. Scent is pleasant. The coverage is very light though, not really enough to cover imperfections, more of a thin veil to deflect light. From close up there doesn’t seem to be much there, but from a distance it looks fab! It sort of softens my face.

I have oily / combination skin so have used it with a setting powder, and it has stayed on all day. However, I have only tried it at home and not out to work yet, so not sure how well it would last on a proper stressful day.

It is quite expensive and you don’t get too much in a tube. However, I’m desperate for a new foundation as I need something lighter than full coverage (I used to wear Lancome Teint Idole Nude and EDW light, but both now discontinued or out of stock).
