My hair always used to be quite fine and fairly straight, apart from an annoying cow lick! I have had variations on a bob for the last 10 years or so and normally straighten it to make it a bit sleeker. I'm in my 50s and have noticed that as it gets greyer, it is also getting coarser and has developed a slight wave. In windy or humid weather the bob goes to pot! It brings out the cow lick and the wave and to my mind, looks scruffy. I'm wondering whether I should just go with it and maybe accentuate the wave? No idea if it would suit my face shape (roundish and wide) or indeed how I could achieve such a style without ending up looking like I've been dragged through even more bushes! It doesn't seem to hold styles well generally.... or maybe I just need product advice?? Any suggestions gratefully received! Didn't bother straightening it today and this is what it looks like.

I think it looks nice, my grey hair is also more wavy. Would you consider having some layers as of actually making more of the texture rather than trying to straighten it?

TSSM · 18/06/2022 16:46

@lurchermummy That's what I'm wondering...though worried it would just go madder if it was layered I guess!

I'm early 30s and I like to think I'm somewhat stylish.
I'm envious of your texture. I don't think it looks remotely messy. Own that wave!

I agree with previous posters. i think the wave is a good thing. Especially if you have fine hair, it adds volume. Colour is nice too. I honestly don't think you need to do anything. You could grow out your fringe if you wanted to, that will make the rest of the hair look a bit fuller too.

Purpleavocado · 18/06/2022 17:25

You have nice hair! Maybe groe your fringe a bit longer into curtain bangs

CoffeeBeansGalore · 18/06/2022 17:26

What about similar to this? Adds a bit of structure & makes it look thicker. Your colour would suit this too.

Can I check - is this a picture of it looking 'scruffy'?? It looks really lovely.

Hawaymanyoushite · 18/06/2022 17:27

I really like your hair OP, it seems really natural and not at all wild or messy.

CharlotteLightandDark · 18/06/2022 17:30

I got wolf cut recently and am really happy with it. It’s brought out the sight natural wave in it. I also have a slight cows lick and can wear the ‘fringe’ either side or in the middle, depending on what hair wants to do that day!

I had it done and toni and guy and they did a great job.

It isn’t me in pic, just an example. They suit most lengths too.

@Albgo Well yes, it is, in the sense I haven't bothered straightening it...it seems to look better on the photo than it does in a mirror!!

Thanks for the lovely comments and the suggestions!

Get a nice pixie cut and use product to keep it 'tousled' You'll never worry about wind again.

paisley256 · 18/06/2022 21:26

@CharlotteLightandDark love your hair!

paisley256 · 18/06/2022 21:28

Oops just realised it's not you, wish my hair was thick enough for this though.

dudsville · 18/06/2022 21:31

I like your hair too and it's encourage the natural wave for interest.
