Where's the best place to get maxi dresses that go down to your ankles for someone who is around 5'4?

Zara and Mango

Or Neverfullydressed. The models are 5ft8 so every dress will be 4" longer on you

I’d say a lot of midi dresses would be maxi on you.

Zara for example. Or Me & Em.

Or H&M have lots. You just have to check ASOS or Instagram and you'll find hundreds

I'm 5'2" and I'd disagree that wearing a midi as a maxi works, the proportions look wrong. I've had some great dresses from the petite ranges at Next and Asos, and actually got a couple of good petite dresses from sainsburys. And miss selfridge (think that's just on asos now) come up quite small.

I have this dress in black and it's excellent. I am 5'3" and it hits just above the ankle, it's a nice weight, hangs well, doesn't blow up in the window, has covered buttons so no gaping and the sleeves are a good colour. I also took it on a weekend away where it spent two days squashed at the bottom of my bag and it still looked great.

Run, don't walk. I want three more.

daisyjgrey · 18/06/2022 09:04

The sleeves are a good length...not colour...they're the same colour as the rest of the thing 🙄

I'm 5 foot 1 and find a lot if the midi work as maxi dresses. The models are often 5 foot 9/10 so it works out that way.

zafferana · 18/06/2022 09:33

If you can buy them in 'short' length OP then that usually works. M&S and Boden usually do maxis in 'short', which work for us vertically challenged women.

waltzingparrot · 18/06/2022 11:46

Wallis have a huge range of petite clothes, including maxi dresses.

blebbleb · 18/06/2022 12:27

I don't like the petite stuff. It's often smaller in other places. But I think I'm quite short and squat and not petite even though I'm 5 foot 1.

WithFlamingLocksOfAuburnHair · 18/06/2022 12:32

I got a few from Mango a couple of summers ago, perfect length and I'm similar height to you. Still wearing them this year.

I agree. My SIL finds crop trousers are full length on her!

MallampatiCatty · 18/06/2022 12:42

I'm your height and M&S regular or ideally their short maxis always looks right. I agree it's such a pain with the models always being super tall, it drives me mad!

LeeMiller · 18/06/2022 12:51

I’m 5ft2 and not keen on petite ranges generally. I either wear midis as maxis or get stuff adjusted - in both cases you have to watch out that it doesn’t throw off the proportions though. If skirts are too long my tailor will often narrow them slightly rather than simply hemming, for example.

LightOfAThousandStars · 18/06/2022 20:10

Thank you so much for all the suggestions! I think finding some petite maxi ones might be the best bet, I tried the M&S midis but they are too short.
