Can you help? I'm after something for around £50 or less. Summery, but not tiered or maxi and probably not midaxi unless from a petite range as I'm 5'4" tall. I'm a size 14. I don't suit flounces or frills. Strong colour is fine, pale pastels or beige or yellow do me no favours. Would prefer to wear with canvas shoes rather than heels.

Oh and I need to get it by lunchtime on Saturday to wear that afternoon for drinks out, so no time to take a hem up, etc!

If it helps the weather is changing at the weekend so you might want your jeans and raincoat on instead 🤦‍♀️

Thank you - yes, I've seen the forecast, but we'll be inside with the option of sitting on the terrace in a reserved space and I'd like a new dress!

I don't want to be awkward, but none of those really.

Although the shirt dress you posted a photo of is a bit different from the usual.

I think it's hard because you don't want a maxi, tiers or flouncy, only a midi if in petite, no pale colours.....that's basically most summer dresses this year!

Have you got any pictures of the sort of styles you do like? That might help people respond.

A shirt dress is probably your best bet to be without tiers, flouncy or maxi length. So looking at the 'usual suspects'

M&S do lots depending on your taste of colour and pattern www.marksandspencer.com/MSFindItemsByKeyword?searchTerm=shirt+dress&intid=normal&langId=-24&storeId=10151&catalogId=10051&categoryId=0

John Lewis not so much under 50 but maybe this www.johnlewis.com/mango-cubana-geometric-print-midi-shirt-dress-blue-multi/p6182125 or if your OK with mini www.johnlewis.com/nobodys-child-sally-daisy-mini-dress-cream/p6216259 both of which would be fine with canvas trainers

Roman from Next have a few options. I have a red floral one (now sold out unfort) and it’s very flattering and non flouncy- I’m 5’4 and 10-12.

That's exactly why I've posted - there's so much out there it's difficult to find something. I just keep seeing things I know won't suit me 😕

Those Roman dresses from Next are the best I've seen - thank you @LairyMcClairy

If you like the Roman dresses, it might be worth looking at Wallis, they have 25% off all dresses today only and do next day delivery so you'd have it by Saturday?

Landsend might be worth a look

I've ordered the linen mix wrap dress from La Redoute which @waltzingparrot posted a link to. Thank you for that. Always forget about catalogue companies.

There's also a Next dress I've seen after following the link to the Roman dress upthread. I can go a branch that has it in stock tomorrow lunchtime, won't have time tonight and delivery is in 4 days otherwise.

Thanks everyone.

I didn't get to Next as too busy at work. The La Redoute dress arrived today and although it fits - I ordered according to their size guide so sized up - the cut of the wrap over front of the skirt is such that it is on the skimpy side. I'd be worried about flashing too much thigh or my undies so it'll be going back.
