Swimsuit and my underarm situation

Hello everyone. I need a swimming costume and the ones I’ve ordered to far showcase my underarm fat and although I don’t have that much the ones I’ve tried on so far really makes it more noticeable!

also I ordered one from Zara that solves this issue but it’s really short on the body and it’s either the costume is pulled right up lol, or it’s a boobs out situation. I have a short body I’ve always thought but seemingly not when it comes to swimwear!

has anyone any recommendations? Ideally I would like strapless or one that is not halter neck. I’m a size 12.

thanks for any help!

I might first suggest trying a size up.

Springspringhurrah · 14/06/2022 21:18

Lands end - Not very sexy, although the plain colours are chic- plus they really are good quality and will last for years and years. Lots of different styles, variations, their sale is usually very good value. Try do a lot of 'tankinis' which are great if long In the body, done with bra sizing, most with some sort of support. Two matching parts, looks like a one piece but isn't. Plus easier for going to the loo!
Or go for the 'special' ones at next, m&s etc that specify longer length, or have slimming panels etc , they are usually better cut - but will be pricer

RedCarsGoFaster · 14/06/2022 21:20

I'm not sure where you're thinking you have fat, but I suspect it's a poorly cut swimsuit.

You could order from a company that specialises in swimwear / lingerie rather than a mainstream clothing company and see if you can find a better made suit?

Playful Promises have lots of gorgeous swimwear. So does Brastop.

PandaOrLion · 14/06/2022 21:23

Do you want it for swimming in or for lying in next to the pool? Because it would be different recommendations as to why you want it I think.

Oceanus · 14/06/2022 21:28

Try La Redoute!

Beachlovingirl · 15/06/2022 08:07

@daisypond yes I think you’re right. I did go for the large at Zara but maybe that was optimistic!

@Springspringhurrah i totally forgot about lands end! Good shout I’m going to have a look on their website next. The tankini is also a good idea!

@RedCarsGoFaster I don’t usually have but the swimsuits I’ve tried on so far are not flattering - maybe it’s because I’ve quite a slim body but large boobs and the boobs are squishing out into other places lol. I’m going to look at those places you recommended too. I remember last time I bought a swimming costume I ordered from Abercrombie and Fitch and the first one fitted and it was all very easy. This time not so!

@PandaOrLion its for centre parcs so spa and also some swimming with My 4 year old - well not really swimming more sitting in the water with her ha ha.

thanks @Oceanus will do! Is there a particular one you can recommend?

How about an underwired one for better support shape? I really rate panache Swim.

Menopants · 15/06/2022 08:45

Have u tried halter necks?

PragmaticWench · 15/06/2022 08:50

I get the same and also struggle with the length. An underwired tankini works best as it has support but doesn't do that awful thing of being too short and dragging your chest downwards.

Oceanus · 15/06/2022 08:53

You're quite slim, so if it were me I'd go with a high-waisted bikini to show off some skin where you'll be the slimmest and then I'd pick a top that is sturdier and holds the girls well to ensure comfort.
I'd look for sth with this shape:
www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.0928457001.html
I'd also try to buy both pieces separate, I'd get the bottoms in black and more than one top that matches (with nicer patterns and colours) in order to be able to rotate which is what I often do now.
This top should hide the underarm fat but it might also be too much coverage for you? www.laredoute.co.uk/ppdp/prod-350269841.aspx#shoppingtool=treestructureflyout
I like this top too (you can hide the straps) www.calzedonia.com/uk/product/padded_bandeau_bikini_top_indonesia-RFI1748A.html?dwvar_RFI1748A_Z_COL_MARE=527C
Unfortunately the British version of the La Redoute has about a fourth of the Portuguese version at about half the price, they have a lot of swimsuits with no straps which aren't available in the UK.
This bathing suit is strapless and you can cater the side length to your actual body: www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.1063148001.html
I like this one too though it wouldn't have worked for me when I had much bigger boobs: www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.0928359003.html
